Planting Foxglove, Columbine & More Bare Root Roses + a Bit Of Tree Maintenance! / Garden Answer handmade: Can you compare the effectiveness of MiteX with that of neem? Spider mites are the bane of my existence and although neem works pretty well, it's a pain to use. Also, you read my mind when you mentioned lining the fence with those roses. It would be so lovely and fragrant. Just don't plant them and then decide to remove the fence. I won't be able to watch that video. Scratch Russell behind his sweet ears from me, please. Such a good helper. Lisa
Edited to add that I wonder whether marine paint would work on those covers. Black paint can be pretty intense, and browns can be hard to match, so both might end up being as out of place as the color they are now. Perhaps you could add a touch of white to the black and end up with a charcoal color. Now, that would really disappear. Maybe even add a touch of blue to skew the color to a greenish deep grey. That might not be necessary, but grey definitely seems promising. You'll figure it out; you always do.

So. okay watching you plant the roses reminded me of watching your other video on planting bare root roses. I learned a lot from that video. One. that I was a day late in watching it. because I had just planted two roses. Two that I did not plant them deep enough. and Three. that I planted them with '' Rose-tone rather than with Bio-tone. I did however replant them. so is it to late to add the Bio-tone. ?.
I can't begin to tell you how much that I enjoy your videos. they keep me going in the winter months and they get me out the door when the weather breaks and I am sure you know what I mean. Hugs from Ohio. Shirlene

Hi Laura. Thank you for yet another awesome video. Have a question about plants that reseed themselves, like you said the foxgloves will do. I absolutely love foxglove and have planted them in multiple years and have never had any plant reseed itself. Now I do have a fairly thick layer of mulch on the garden, to keep weeds at bay. So do I have to do something each year so these type of plants can reseed? If yes, how and when would I do this? Thanks

I full out belly laughed at 2 in the morning when you climbed up on the fence! With my husband now working from home I have been 'caught' lately on too-tall ladders, without my sunhat and carrying pots perceived as waaay too heavy. I think back to when my boys were Benjamin's age and when they were about to forge ahead at something risky they would say, Don't see me Mom. As you scaled upward I thought, You go girl! Nobody tells Laura what to do!

Thanks for making the video! By the way, you have some beautiful roses in your garden in the other videos. Could you please teach us how to take care of roses? For some reason my roses are out of shape even though I trim them every year in early Spring. Some branches are outgrown the others. In addition, insects eat lot of foliages as well. Many thanks in advance!

I want to expand an existing bed. Our ground has a lot of rocks so it is difficult for me to dig on my own. I don't want my husband to think he has to do all the work just because I have an idea! What are your thoughts on the no dig method? Were your beds tilled before planting? They seem so soft and easy to work. (Maybe you are just a lot tougher than I am)

I find it so interesting to see the planting differences. You can grow so many things I cant. I live in northern England and have heavy slightly acid soil. Foxgloves and columbine grow very prolifically in shade and sun and seed everywhere so I have to weed some out and only get red spider mite in the conservatory but lavender hate my garden. I love your videos

I put a flat rock to cover the hole in the green lid otherwise voles ) make nests there, inside the box and I cover the lids with mulch. If access is needed, we just push the mulch aside. Beautiful new plantings, Laura! I so envy you! Our nurseries are closed and I am afraid they will close garden centers in HD and Lowes if they haven't yet.

I recently planted foxgloves in front of my house in full sun! 6-8hrs of sun and they seem to get droopy after a full day of sun
I am in South Carolina where its humid and hot especially in summer months
Tag said full sun
What am I doing wrong?
I just planted them 5 days ago
Should I give them time or move them?

make this green things a wood pathway. just add on top of them nice pieces of reclaimed wood and continue until the child playground. make them so you can step on them and still protect the green things. like covers. ithe steps would not be straight but it can be cute and whimsical, m french i hope i make sense
