Harvesting Garlic & Planting Sweet Potatoes! Garden Answer Sylvia: As always, your videos make me smile, and inspire me to get out into my garden! I tried gardening veggies this year. What a disaster! I made two raised beds and went for it, knowing that there would be somewhat of a learning curve. In my naivety, (and maybe a little arrogance) I thought that since I have tremendous success with flower gardening, I probably wouldn't do too bad with my attempt at veggie gardening. Boy, was I wrong! Between the cool, wet weather and my ignorance, its been pretty much a total disaster! I think I made my soil too rich for one. I'm not giving up, however, it's all a learning process and I'm determined to persevere! Absolutely dying for a complete garden tour though. The longer the better! Any chance of that happening soon? Keep up the great work and thank you so much for what you do!

Hello! Love the lavender wreaths. I have 5 big endless summer hydrangeas, beautiful in spring, but dosent match the name endless summer because in the summer they just gat burnt, leaves and all. PLEASE HELP. I always deadhead the spent burnt blooms and leaves, and another set of flowers grow in the fall. Summer is very sad in our yard, but our augupanthus steal the show. Live in zone 9b, very hot and dry days. And I have no tree over the hydrangea because we have no space. May I ask what plants bloom in the summer?

Ok brace yourselves Laura and Aaron, we live in zone 2a-2b up in Alberta Canada. So trying to grow garlic. They were planted mid-May (earliest possible date here. They look good, nice height but leaves are starting to yellow slightly. We've had consistent moisture and not a lot of heat yet. They are in very good soil. We have really black bluff dirt with lots of peat mixed in. Is it a fertilizer issue? You did say they and onions are heavy feeders. Would love your opinion!

Do you have a video on how you manage pests and disease? Your veggies look immaculate! Also, how many cabbage heads & walla walla onions did you plant in that bed? (Im guessing the bed is also 3x4? I always feel that the spacing recommendations are under the assumption that you have a huge space and are over generous in the amount of space the plant actually needs.

Seeing the homes being built behind you I have to ask over the years has Boise been encroaching on your small town and rural area? I live in Southern California and I have known several people who have moved up to the Boise area, three of which in just the last month that are all from the same Trader Joes market!

Timely video I was just wondering when to harvest my garlic. Mine however is much much smaller. I didnt plant it until Late March or fertile as much. and I used sprouting cloves from my kitchen. Where do I get quality cloves to start with. I would like to start them properly in the fall this year?

I've been watching your videos for a few months now - very inspirational and educational. I often wonder what the story is with your property. Did you buy this as a farm and severe the land, hence the new development around you? How much property do you have now with the additional acreage?

Do you plant your garlic in the same bed each year or do you rotate to another bed? I just harvested my garlic about a week ago, and most was planted in a new bed, but i did put some in a bed that i used last year, the bed from last year is an older bed, and it grew better than the new bed.

Do you have a book or website that have gardening tipa, does and donts etc? I have been looking for something to keep me on the right track on gardening and so far I am failing. Especially when it comes to storing harvest. I love you content and always look forward to your videos
