Starting Fall Flower Bed Cleanup! Garden Answer David: Hi, either Laura or anybody who is a somewhat expert here in the Pacific NW, can you tell me if there is something that looks somewhat like an evergreen tree/shrub that I can plant in a small patio planter? No, not rosemary I know about that. I was at the garden center yesterday here in Vancouver, WA and saw some small types of plants with that dark green soft look that one could expect from a topiary or such, but I wasnt sure if any varieties exist that would survive in a smaller state in a smaller planter on my sunny patio. I am trying to make things nice for fall containers and then transition to winter, that is why I would like something like this. Any suggestions?

Hi Laura,
I am addicted to your videos. I have told all my garden club friends if they haven't been watching you, they are really missing out on some incredible information.
I was wonder if you have a list of all the chemical/herbicides that you use and what you use them for? I think it would be great to have that kind of list when someone is struggling to find the answers to their garden needs.
Take care.
My best to Arron, Benjamin & Samantha Grace!

I am so behind on videos been trying to get my plants from outside back to inside the house because of the cold weather coming, I am in zone 8b(Texas. Do you have any suggestions how to keep the critters from moving indoors with them lol? I don't want to bring all the insects with the plants. Also, you inspired me to tackle some container bulb planting this year so I bought some tulips, hyacinths, crocus and allium to try, so still trying to figure that process out. Wish me luck!

I agree with you thought that the evolulus needs more heat. I have it in a part sun/sun area on the east side, zone 8, Texas. I planted 3 4 containers in June, and they are now a mass that is about 4-5' along the bed boarder. Even better, they are really drought tolerant (like 1-2 times a week at peak summer) They are still flourishing here (but we are still in the upper 80s during the day, and 60-70s at night)

You are wearing gloves! Yay! I have a pair of size small Felco gloves that I absolutely love! I received mine with a pair of Felco #14s that I bought after you had your video explaining all the different sizes and types which was SO helpful! (I also bought a pair of #13s) I am never out in my yard or garden without my Felco helpers!

Hi Laura! I still need to do my fall cleanup. Mine is mostly in planters and raised beds, so not too hard to do. I was surprised when you dumped the debris with aphids in the pile. I hope Chad takes that stuff to the dump and not to be composted. Thank you so much for sharing!

Zone 4a - usually cleaned up in the spring, however, two years ago we had a mice infestation in our perennial grasses, which are next to the house. So fall clean-up comes as a necessity. no mice. Would rather wait until the spring - but we don't need the winter roommates; )

I noticed you had white lattice around the porch to the left of the ac units. Have you considered framing a lattice to front and hide the ac. You could move it when you need to get to them for maintenance. I did it around a pond pump and it looks much more tidy.
