Planting Spring Crops! Garden Answer JaynieD: You always have such fabulous luck with seed starting. I am obviously unknowledgeable about this. The only thing I get results from is corn. Anyone got any advise. Out of potentially 7 small 2x6 inch heated tray window propogators Ive got two tomato plants. Everything else hasnt sprouted ( swede, calendula and nasturtiums, and cherry/ plum/ salad tomatoes each tray has 6-8 seeds. ) the heaters are on 8 hours a day, roughly, sun up to sun down type hours, and watering every other day, keeping them all moist

Loved this video - it's so inspiring to see all the produce crops getting started & I'm hoping to get a few things going this weekend in my zone 9b (late start, I know. But I also have cats (yes, I am the crazy cat lady of my neighborhood, lol) and I'm wondering how to keep them out of my freshly seeded planter beds - do you have issues with your cats digging in yours?

Hi Laura,
I got chickens last year, and added their incompetent manure to my garden. Last year's tomatoes were awful. The plants were tall and thin with little fruits. Bad choice. How can I recover this year? Do I dare add the ashes from the wood stove?
Can you recommend a dark purple tea rose that is hardy in 6A?

I love these videos, but I wouldn't think we'd be on the same planting schedule. I feel like we're a bit ahead of you (Eastern NC) as it's in the 70's during the day, warmish in the evening. Question tho, have you turned your drip system on already? Or are you hand watering for now? Thanks!

FYI Dollar Tree sells a clear plastic CLOCHE in their garden supplies that looks very similar to your bell-shaped ones, there! Of course they aren't heavy-duty but hey! It's nice to have an option. You just need to weigh them or staple them down or bury them a bit! I'mma give them a go!

We are getting snow next week so I'm in a holding pattern. Have to build a fence around my raised beds to keep the critters out - and my dog from eating my produce! She left it alone till the squash came in. Now, like me, she stares at the ground waiting for something to pop up!

So helpful after kind of an awful day. Russell always makes me smile. You will love Lineria. It's small, about the size of a regular alyssum plant but with the most enchanting little flowers in many colors. They have a nice scent as I recall. Easy but strictly cool weather.

I love the raised beds but I had a issue with the boards rotting after about 4-5 years it there a better way of holding off the rotting boards. Galvanized tubs are a thought but I heard the zinc the galvanized metal gives off is not good to ingest. Any ideas are helpful.

How much would it cost to put a cold storage place in plan, say 10 foot x 10 foot, would love to do, but can it be affordable, depending, please and thanx, would like to know before starting, is that a reasonable question, how much money? Love your set up
