Loved these submissions! One idea I didn't see here but I think anyone who may be looking to create new beds may want to consider is to burn the boards (Shou sugi ban technique or yakisugi) to elongate the life of the wood for the raised beds. My inspiration for this comes from the beautiful garden of Farm Luxe. Her gardens are so inspiring as are all these, and that technique seems practical for this purpose, plus the blackened look is pretty spectacular since I'm all about the esthetic of a space, too.

I used a bunch of old railroad sleepers to build 2 compost boxes under an oak tree it seems to be working well theyre about 4x2 each by 0. 5m high and my garden is made from eucalyptus logs which are sturdy all of it was free as I didnt have the funds to by new timber. Cardboard also makes for great weed mats just remove the tape and put 2 layers you wont have weed problems and cover with mulch and poke holes for planting.

Loved these, so inspirational. I especially liked when they used an arched trellis between two beds and allowed vining crops to create a tunnel between them. Ever done this? Might be fun for kids to have a little green tunnel to go through!

Instead of making tall raised beds, ours are capped with wide boards so I can sit on all sides and garden. I'm in my late 60s and it really makes a difference in how much weeding I feel like doing! I love seeing everyones gardens!

You mentioned while showing the first garden, that you'd placed fabric beneath the gravel in your own raised bed garden, but not beneath the raised beds. Is there a reason for not putting it beneath the raised bed?

This was very inspirational for me. Just like Lisa in New Hampshire, I had a huge maple removed from my front yard. Still waiting for the stump grinding, but am sketching out several front yard garden layouts.

I have a neighbor to our right who sprays his grass and he will not stop doing it. so I'm very limited. This year we will try a 12 foot bed beside the garage which is the furthest point away from the spraying.
