You've convinced me that grass pathways were the right decision for the south garden, I was seriously considering it for my pathways because I liked them so much! But then as I was thinking more on it over the winter and this whole summer I changed my mind, they are beautiful but the maintenance would probably annoy me lol, I would love to go back to the pea gravel with paver stones in the middle that I had in my original garden but we have this massive cottonwood that drops thousands of sticky seeds every spring, I took the gravel out because of those, it became a nightmare to pick up after that tree. In the end, I decided I'm going to continue on with the cobblestone pathway I already have going to my chicken run, that has been the easiest to care for and its one and done, unlike the mulch pathways I have now. It will be expensive but so worth it if done correctly! I would totally do the kind of stone you have in the pond patio but since I already have cobblestone I figured I should keep doing it lol, if shoveling wasn't an issue (Minnesota) I would switch even the chicken run pathway but unless its perfectly level, I would absolutely hate shoveling that LOL.

Just amazing what you have accomplished! You must have to pinch yourself every day! I loved the 2 tours! Hoping you can put out a few more of the music only highlights with names overlaid, with zone info and maybe for roses especially, where they are sourced (proven winners, etc. You may have thrips, and some spider mite and aphids BUT your climate all but eliminates powdery, black spot and fungal issues. Therefore your plants all look so awesome. somewhat jealous! Atlantic Canada has been sooo wet this year!

I had to replay the drone footage over and over. Oh so pretty from every angle, every turn! Love the grass and paved pathways, the sections, the structures. What a fabulous mix of interest, edibles, trees, flowers of all kinds! I would love to see a drone video like this of the entire property. The low shots as if you're walking through and then the aerial really gives a feel of what you experience each day. Next best thing to being there. Very well done!

I loved how the drone footage walked us through the garden! It looked like that took some drone driving skills, props Aaron! Have you ever taken a trip to Portland to the Rose test garden? At one point I know it was the largest test garden west of the Mississippi! I'm sure you could spend the whole day there! And then the Japanese Garden is also right there in nearly the same parking lot! Talking about established gardens, it's 60 years this year.

Aa a kid & teen I sold a ton of pumpkins, was a great experience with growing but economics too! Started at 7, Benjamin would have a blast. Sold a couple hundred Jack B Little from 3 hills. Also grew the Atlantic Giants, mostly for fun not many folks would buy those unless doing a huge display but it was a blast to experiment with growing techniques. Grew 20-30 jack-o-lantern size each year too. Patch not much bigger than what you have this year.

Benjamin's pop of color is beautiful. Your property is beautiful! My mom has a lilac and it's very old and woody, she has tried not pruning it back. I was over there yesterday and it has crispy leaves and is really struggling. Over 20 year old bush. She wants to cut it back to the ground but I think it needs pulled and replaced. Would Love to know your opinion with the little bit of information I've provided. Thanks in advance Laura

Hello from Lithuania! I love your garden and what you do! You are so energetic and inspiring! :) May I advice? :) When creating a path, I (or classic design school) would recommend to end it in 90 degrees (where path meets another path or area. At 1: 51 at the right side you can see where paths end at 90 degrees ( the loop. However the path at the left side ends with more acute anlge. Still possible to tweek it a bit: )

The drone shot in the beginning was beautiful how do you like those 3 houses so close good thing you put those Arbor Vitae for privacy. So many flowers how many flower arrangements do you have in your house, moms, sisters house. I would love to see your sisters backyard how it looks now. FYI- My friend lives near Grants Pass OR has apple trees she keeps her apples with worms just cuts them out to make applesauce.

You showed the footage of the south garden before you started planting compared to now. All I can think is wow! It's only been like three years since you started putting plants out there. It really looks amazing. The transformation is awesome. I really admire your hard work and dedication in creating something so beautiful. Thank you for taking Us on the journey with you. I have learned so much.

Kudos to Aaron s drone skills! Such a magical feel was created by the swooping highs and lows. Your plants look like they want to stay alive for another month or so. Those roses are so beautiful. Do you think another beneficial bug application will help with the thrips? Do the bugs that were sprinkled onto your cut flower garden reproduce or so they die off after a certain amount of time?

Nepata- I am in a very short growing season Minnesota. I deadhead my nepata 2 x before end of July and then leave it. I have Nepata blooming from June through first hard frost Sept/Oct. If I do the full cutback after 1st flush, I have nothing for the pollinators during August and it struggles to really recover and rebook early enough before first. I found this was a happy compromise.

My suggestion to you is to leave the grassy area surrounded by trees as is. Before you know it Benjamin and Samantha will be into sports- soccer, baseball, and football- and that is the perfect space for soccer goals, baseball bases, and football goal posts! My Ben started played soccer at 5 and played through his senior year and still wants to play intramural soccer in college.

I love your property, but I imagine you could sell all the property for development and buy a huge estate in the country. Buying those extra lots was an great investment. I know the thought of moving and starting again on another property sounds so daunting, but we never know what the future holds and change is always an exciting adventure.

It will be a relaxed garden after everything has set in, perennials and trees. different inspiration after that
Love the pumpkin area on the new property, feels kind of farm like. Saw a recipe online for a layered casserole made of pumpkin slices & pumpkin seeds with zucchini and goat cheese. Early fall is such a fun time of year.

Could a dahlia plant be grown in a container- maybe as the centerpiece? Have you ever seen a small train garden. They are wonderful- better than a fairy garden. Usually set up in a forest type garden and often near a water feature. They don t have to be noticeable all the time but when you turn the train on, they are magical.

This is such a rewarding video. I know you did all the planning, planting and grooming of all things living, but by bringing us along, we feel like it is our garden as well. We remember the bare map and are amazed how everything is fitting together so beautifully. We share your pride in an absolutely stunning space.

Laura. Sumac is a very invasive plant/tree here in southern Ontario, Canada.
Anyone I know of conciders them an anusance. Yes very pretty in the fall, but thats about it. They grow along ditches here. Its funny how one feels about them in another environment. Hopefully they will not take over ur south garden.
