How to Grow and Harvest Snapdragons MW: Thanks for this encouraging video. I am still waiting for my Potomac White and Apple blossom Snaps to become anything, of all the seeds I winter sowed they were the smallest and latest to germinate, and incidentally the ones I looked forward to the most. It-s going to be so late in the season (5b) I-m not sure I-ll even pinch them back at this point so I planted them 4 inches apart. The stems don-t seem as strong as yours, and some have a bend to them at the base, not leggy though. Any tips?

Thank You once again for showing THE WHOLE PLANT!
It's just so helpful to be able to see how much room one full plant will take up in a garden.
Also - where you're cutting them, and how they continue to grow, these are such helpful things to see!
I know other gardners TELL us these things, but SEEING is a much better memory trick for me!
Thank You -

Great video! My snapdragons come back from seed. I am always surprised to see them as I move things around a lot. I buy plants when I can find them but haven't bought any in a couple of years. I am so happy when I see them coming up but I don't cut them as I enjoy them in my garden so much. I would buy yours if we were close. Thanks for the tips.

Great info! I have never cut them so low. I will try that. I have 88 seedlings pricked out & growing strong in small 2 1/2- clay pots.
They are easy to grow fm seeds. Just got 2 packets from Home Depot. I still have more not ready to prick out but have so many I don-t know what to do with them all! A great dilemma to have.

Hi Danielle, I like it when I'm looking for a specific type of flower to sow or harvest in my zone and you have been the best help out there! I also planted sweet peas and ranunculus for the first time this year, successfully too! What a thrill! I thank you so much for your guidance in every way. You are a God send!

When I started to grow stuff in the garden in 1979 when I was yea high in southern NH I was in zone 5a and now I am in zone 6b 8 miles west of where I grew up in Exeter NH. I live in Epping NH. So I know what oceanic warming in southeastern NH is like and some global warming as well.

I resonated with what you said about them coming back like a perennial. I had a beautiful white one that came back for three years. There was absolutely no sign of it in the fourth year, but three years made it a good value plant. Needless to say, I never cut back my antirrhinums now.

Your videos are always so helpful and peaceful to watch. I'm also in zone 6b and am wondering if I can plant my snapdragon seedlings outside in mid March with an average last frost date of April 15 (even though we usually get frost warnings into the first week of May. Thank you!

So much great information. I just picked up a few snapdragons over the weekend and wanted to learn more about them. Love your flowers! Can you tell me how to figure out what group the snaps belong to? There's nothing on the tag for the variety I got. Liberty Classic Mix.

Great information! I have the all season snapdragons. I cut them back once the flowers were spent but I only cut them back a little last week - not all the way down where you showed. My question is would you recommend recutting the stem all the way down at this point?

I bought some snap dragons from Lowe-s and they are already dead! I have them in a pot. I watered them every day because it is so hot here in California. Also I saw a lot of pinchers in the soil and was told slugs will eat all your flowers! Will they come back! Help!

I live in Vancouver BC Canada. I have what I refer to as my mother plant I purchased this Rocket in a big pot. Every year for 4 yrs now she has wintered over. Not only does she give me weeds but she still gi e beautiful blooms. -

How soon after germination do you start to add a little liquid fertilizer to the seedlings? First time for me, and the seedlings sprouted about 1 week ago and to this point they are in a 50 tray and only getting water.

When you say the groups 1 and 2 bloom in the spring and fall, are you talking about the same plant? Like you leave the plant until fall and it will bloom again, or you replant them late spring for fall blooms?
reply

Question? I notice you plant a lot of your seeds in the Fall. I live in Central California and it rains a lot in the Winter. Do you recommend I plant in late Fall? I look forward to your recommendation.

Hello, I've planted snapdragons 2 seasons now but everytime the stem is always bends and doesn't grow straight like yours. I used a stake but that didn't help. Im in zone 9a and plant them 30cm apart.

Thank you for this video. I watched it before, but it is perfect to watch again right after watching the vid on how to propagate pinchings. The closeup of the plant at the end was especially helpful.

This is by far the most helpful and encouraging video. How did you keep them so healthy. Do you deal with any bud worms? Thank you! So lovely to watch with beautiful backgrounds.

Thanks for the info about the different planting times. your snapdragons looks beautiful! This is the first time I planted snapdragons and I-m still learning about them.

Did that experiment work cutting them back and treating them as a perennial? Do you find by having flowers all over that you have less pest problems? Thanks Danielle!
