Let’s take a private garden tour of the backyard I’ve been dreaming of walking through for 20 years! This front yard garden stole my heart decades ago, and now we can tour the backyard landscape! This garden has terraces, four season interest, stunning hardscaping, and a gardener’s dream potting shed!

Danielle, thank you so much for sharing this garden! I love the Colonial Williamsburg look and feel of it all. I have a picket fence with the same cannonball and chain gate closure mechanisms. My home is a colonial and this garden has given me so many great ideas. Both this home and garden are a dream property for me too! I really have been thinking of what you said about the repetition of many of the shrubs, etc. I garden in heavy clay in Kansas City and I needed to hear that you can have a beautiful garden with lots of repetition. It would be so much easier to use things that thrive in our heavy clay and not always try to fight it, and I don't necessarily need hundreds of different plants to achieve an elegant garden. I really hope that somehow the lady who lived in this beautiful home and garden will get the chance to view your video and take delight in seeing her beloved garden and feel like she is again walking through it! It truly is a relaxing and elegant space. She and her husband created something truly special and I am totally inspired!

I agree with you, this one is a stunner! Such lush greenery. Nothing can replace a view like this one, and the slight slope adds so much interest. If the wife is in a nursing home, perhaps your dream of meeting her could come true! I'm sure that she would love a visit from a kindred gardener like you who can let her know that there are still those of us out there with a true passion for beautiful gardens. I love my garden, but sometimes I'll see another one that will tug at my heart. I tell myself that our Creator is saving my very best garden for me after I leave my earthly one! Thanks so much for sharing. When it goes on the market, wouldn't it be cool if it became a VRBO Please post the listing, I'm sure lots of us would LOVE to see it!

OHHhhh my words, thank you Danielle, and the people who's house this was, I think, you said SHE. she. as in the gardener, I Think HE, not them, I think, it was all his work, and maybe she did the house, but she may have, or he know, how much loved roses, and because he loved her so much, planted so much, to show, how much he loved of her, Thank you for, taking the time out, to do that for all of us, I, live in New Zealand, in Southland. I would never get to see it, Love the house to, its a shame you cant go see the lady, or i hope someone show her, This, your Northlawn Flower Farm and Garden, and she reads, all the nice things, people have said about this amazing Home and garden,

An absolutely beautiful and peaceful garden, and you captured the feeling so well. I notice for myself that as I age I focus more on perennials and shrubs carrying the weight of the garden, with a few pops of annuals here and there. I have only a small garden, and very little full day sun, but have successfully grown quite a few varieties of roses in part to mostly shade. Some thrive, some just hang on, but for me all gardening is an experiment. No garden is static, and I try to enjoy each iteration of my own little plot.

I’m enjoying this garden tour so much. I’ve watched 4 times so far.
I love the picket fences and all the pathways. Also a garden that has different levels is so pleasing to the eye. There is a wooden bench inside the rose arbor. My father built one for me many years ago exactly like this one. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it. I guess whoever built this one used the same pattern my father used. Also you said the neighbors corn field was protected. What does that mean Enquiring minds want to know. lol

Oh my goodness - I'm having a bit of a freakout. I think this house belongs to someone I KNOW! She is the reason I started gardening. She had many rooms, all with a slightly different theme. Also, she had a working waterfall and arbor. The back patio led into a glassed in solarium. She was an amazing artist, painting early American works of art (if this is in fact my friend's house. It is certainly very similar, if it is not hers. I will check into it and let you know! My mind is blown.

I have two neighbors who had amazing gardens and over the years as they’ve gotten older they can no longer tend to it. I used to marvel at this artistry (they knew every plant, every fertilizer mix-they were just amazing at their craft. As the years passed and they’re no longer as active their garden has begun to dwindle. I truly miss those times and I know it’s a part of aging but alas, it’s truly sad. There aren’t many gardeners like that in my neighborhood and i miss it

What a beautiful property! It shows what can be accomplished without a lot of annuals and perennials. It's peaceful and serene. The property also shows the love that someone had for their garden. So carefully curated over time, with their own stamp of character in the personal objects that are carefully placed throughout. Whomever buys this property is buying a gem and getting a bonus with the corn field behind it. The property is a true sanctuary, a place of tranquility.

I saw that my decision to make a narrow mulch bed along my rock edges will not only help with mowing, but can be a lovely choice. I saw that consistency with planting shrubs along borders can possibly allow me to choose a greater variety of plants within the beds without sacrificing a consistent look. My biggest takeaway is how important the hard scaping is. Scratch that thought. biggest takeaway is what wonderful gardeners someone in this home was. Thank you for sharing

oh it's gorgeous. Just as yours is! The hardscape and stonework is amazing. If you can somehow find out where she is, especially if a nursing home and without much family (making an assumption given the home is being auctioned, perhaps you could visit her. You would make her day! I love speaking about gardens with my elderly patients at the hospital - even when they have memory loss, their eyes light up when talking about their passion! Thank you for sharing!

Very inspiring! My mom had a great garden in Los Angeles where I grew up. I had to move her here to Oregon to care for her the last seven years of her life. Wish I learned more about gardening from her before the Alzheimer's. Now I'm settled on a bit of land here in zone 8 leaning by trial and error. I hope to leave this place looking as good as the home in this video when I'm old. I really want some boxwood now for that English garden feel!

I love this. It's like a meditation garden. Peaceful. The empty pots probably had flowers in the summer. Thank you for sharing this wonderful garden! I have looked at this twice so far. So much to take in. Oh how I would love a potting shed like this. I wonder if she got some of her ideas for layout from Williamsburg Va. gardens. The gate on fence had the ball and chain just like ones in Williamsburg. Wow, what a place!

Watching your clip i enjoy the beauty of this garden but i m more interested in its past time. This is a labor of love, a hobby that a couple shared. They must love the home a lot till the end! Most of us would go thru these steps building something together then have to leave it behind one day.
My dear late hubby built me a rose garden once because he didn’t want to buy cut roses at the stores over and over!

Spectacular! I appreciate everything you noted Danielle. Also the many areas to sit and appreciate the garden from different views. The intimacy of the garden. That potting shed! I’m sad too as others have expressed that the gardener is leaving. I hope the new owners put their own stamp because we need to make a space our own but also to deeply appreciate what is already there. Thank you for sharing.

What a stunning beautiful property. The house inside is so beautiful yet there is a sadness attatched, watching that there are so many memories and treasures in there from the couple who lived there. I would like to think that perhaps some family members have taken some to cherish. The gardens are immaculate and stunning in thier own right. I hope the new owner will love this house for many years.

This was so lovely. I can just imagine her through the years and seasons, lovingly tending this garden sanctuary. I also have always loved evergreens and boxwoods as the anchors of the garden, And stonework always lends such a cozy, cottage feel. I wish the new owners had some photos of her working on this space through the decades, to appreciate her vision.

So beautiful Danielle. Thanks so much for bringing us along. One of the many things I’ve taken away from this garden is how every flower bed or stone wall is buffered from the lawn by a 12 inch or so mulched space. So clean looking and so practical, no grass to be pulled from between the stones. I am doing this to my gardens this spring! Thanks so much.

I am surprised at your love for this garden. I think yours is much more beautiful. Perhaps you are finding your garden to be too much work at this point and you are seeking more time to just enjoy nature, rather than having to work in it so much. But by far, I love your garden much more. This garden is too structured for my taste. But to each his own.

I love the stone walls and walkways. The boxwoods and other winter interest was amazing. Anyone would absolutely love to have a garden shed such as this one. Thank you for showing us this beautiful garden. The layers, and level changes made it magical. Structures, winter interest, textures and different colors ( even early spring) was beautiful.

This was just a stunning garden and very inspirational! My hope is whomever purchases this house falls in love like we all did with the gardens and continues building on the beauty already there. The flow of the garden is what stood out to me along with that amazing potting shed. I also loved the touches of grass along the way.
