BTW, listen to this! To show what an inspiration you are to us, I have been looking for stepping stones like the ones you have, but not finding them anywhere near me. At your mention of Ken's Gardens, I drove 2 hours down to their shop in Intercourse and they had 14 left! When the lovely lady in the store showed me where they were she asked if I knew Danielle from Northlawn Flower Farm! My face lit up and I said, Yes, I think she's the reason you only have a few of these left! She's my inspiration. The lady told me they've been selling many of those stones! If only I had seen this video yesterday I could have spread the exciting news about your upcoming magazine spread! You will be the darling of gardening across the country! Oh wait, you already are to so many of us! Congratulations!

Congratulations on securing your upcoming feature for Better Homes and Gardens. I've worked on magazines all my life and have been on many, many shoots. What I would say is that the editors and photographer won't be judging every area of your garden at all - they will be focussing on the shots that show the best of your garden, in order to inspire readers, so don't worry about trying to perfect everything. Also, they will probably want to do some details shots as well for a sense of balance on the page, so think about providing some still-life opportunities such as a basket of your wonderful freshly cut flowers etc. Sending love and luck from London. PS Thanks to you, I am now addicted to amaryllis. I just put some into dormancy today and thought of you.

Of course Danielle BHG would want to photograph your beautiful garden. It’s been a pleasure to see its transformation over the years. I did review the June tour as you asked and though I would never presume to give advice but since you asked, and only because I was focused on that request, I did notice what looked like holes to me. The first was along the edge of the hydrangea room. I remember one year you planted low growing begonias which were quite pretty and brought the eye down. Perhaps something like that. Then I noticed a hole at the edge of the stone carpet on the way to the book nook before the hydrangea hedge. Congrats again and good gardening. I hope you enjoy the process over the next 10 months.

Danielle, you are too modest. You do such an incredible job designing your garden, and you are an inspiration to so many of us! I am pleased to hear of the magazine's interest in your garden, so well deserved. I remember you were working on a secret project a couple of years ago, which you were unable to share. Not sure what it was, but I was hoping it was a cover, and here we are. I can see you are a bit nervous, and Grace is over the moon about it. As you think of any changes and updates, remember you will have to live with them long after the magazine is gone, so please trust your instinct as you move forward; it has not failed you yet. Congratulations.

Congratulations on your garden being featured in BHG! Your garden has been a big influence in my own garden. Something I'm considering for my garden, and maybe food for thought in your garden: I'm punctuating entrances with evergreen junipers such as Pencil Point and Blue Arrow; also using boxwood balls as punctuation or accents to give the eye a place to rest. Love using chartreuse as edging such as hakonechloa grass and lady's mantle. Other good edging plants include catmint and ajuga. All these edging plants look fantastic together and create a frame around the bed. Looking forward to how your garden continues to develop!

Aww, Danielle what wonderful, well-deserved news for you! I haven't re-watched your videos yet, but my 1st suggestion is to be sure you have enough cut flowers on hand to make some of your glorious bouquets for the book nook & any garden tabletops. You have a brilliant sense for bouquets & I'm sure they'd make delicious added photos for the editor to include. Also your idea of adding any June flowering bulbs in pots can fluff the garden out as needed filler. I'm so happy for you! It's sure to be a stellar BH&G edition! Congratulations!

Congratulations.
Like you, we love hydrangeas. We’ve bought a yoder greenhouse and it should be delivered in a few weeks. My wife is very excited about designing the new landscapes around our new (old) home. We have a bay window in the living room and we are creating a beautifully fenced 4 season garden with a new patio in that space. We have a lot of hydrangeas ready to put in the ground.
You are such an inspiration to us. Thank you.

OMG I'm so excited for you! Well deserved- and I must say I was shocked when you said you were not a trained garden designer. Planting from the heart really shows- your garden is always such a delight! So many congratulations- and thank you for taking us along with you as you prepare. Having watched the two videos you requested we review, I just have to say- I don't know how it could be more beautful. Enjoy this exciting time!

Exciting news! I don't know if it would be feasable but a row of those beautiful purple calla lillies (from your June video) would be glorious behind the rows of incrediballs. I'm sure your hydrangeas will grow more next year so maybe the height of the lillies would be too short behind them but something with striking color behind the hydrangeas would be really pretty. Whatever you do will be beautiful no matter!

Danielle, what a well deserved honor. I’m sure you with Gracie will make this an even more stunning photo shoot than it already is. The love and eye you have for beauty shows through in your garden progression every year. Obviously this publication saw the opportunity and, please be proud as we all know you are.
If Gracie gets much cuter in these videos.
Again, exciting for what’s to come. Sandi

Congratulations! The reason I follow you is because you garden from the heart, like you said - and that comes through in your gardens. You asked for advice from your viewers - all I can offer is to continue to do what you have been doing and don’t stress about it - continue to let your heart and creativity guide your gardening, don’t worry about the stuff you feel like you have to do just because they are coming.

I had my garden photographed by a magazine. They only select 3-4 pics max. and they will be the best plants or combinations featured or long shots that show little detail. I shouldn't have worried about having everything perfect. And please remember, they chose you because they love it AS IS. Of course you want to perfect it, but a gentle suggestion to keep that in mind. Congrats!

No surprise that BHG wants to photograph your beautiful garden! What a well deserved honor. Please don’t be shy about showing the less glamorous areas of your property. We all have them and seeing yours would give us hope that we can create something beautiful in one area and still have our utilitarian spaces. Seeking perfection in any endeavor can be a joy-robber.

You're gardens are absolutely stunning and the love and effort shines through in every area of your garden! I love your ability to smartly place plants with colors and textures that so easily compliment each other always keeping a theme and a beautiful flow. Big Congratulations on the BHG spread! Well deserved and I can't wait to watch for it next year!

I totally get wanting to amp up the show for this kind of thing, as I'm doing the same thing for a local garden tour next spring, but keep in mind, that they picked you for what you ALREADY have going. Have fun putting in some improvements, but don't break the bank or do it if it becomes stressful.
Love your garden, it's so beautiful

I was watching the June tour. What can I add to perfection I think that many of us are inspired by your creation again and again. I want to get ahold of many of your plants when you feature them. Your design is what we come back to visit. It's always a pleasure! Better Homes is priveledged to visit!
reply

Congratulations! Your gardens are always so beautiful and peaceful despite living on a busy road and both the garden and the gardener deserve to be featured in a magazine. I think we all have areas that we would prefer for people not to see, but it will be fun to see how you transform those spots on a budget.

Well deserved! Your garden has evolved from just beautiful to magical. Every time I see the hydrangea room and library garden, I end up buying hydrangeas to create a beautiful space. Such a beautiful inspiration. Being in Better Homes and Gardens is a dream come true. So happy for you!
