Shawn, I cannot applaud you enough for your incredible hard work, dedication and just amazing videos you provide for all of us. You really have impacted me (and I know many others) and made me have a different and better outlook on life. Honestly, I cannot get enough of your videos. The craftsmanship, the thoroughness, the love and passion you put into each and every project is just incredible. I can tell just from watching a video how much you actually enjoy and appreciate what you do and have. I never met you or your family but I can say with 100 percent certainty you are all good people and deserve great things. I am so happy you got yourself out of debt, the city, and now doing what you whole heartedly love in a location you adore. You take so much pride in your work and thats very refreshing to see but unfortunately not too common in todays day and age. I live in NYC and while watching these videos I live vicariously through them for a bit. I dont hate the city but I would absolutely live in a cabin like yours in a heartbeat. Someday soon though. :) anyway, I just wanted to thank you for all your hard working and providing us some great content. I am so happy for you and your family to have the life you always wanted. Enjoy every second as I know you do!

Hi Shawn! Thank you for ALL the videos about your adventure in the Canadian wilderness! I live in the tropics so the contrast with your life is astounding! And I love the shorter videos because I dont always have the time to see the longer ones in their entirety. It is frustrating to leave them half seen! Of course I then finish them at a later date. By the way, I also have a Golden Retriever, Allegra. I enjoy Calis antics; so similar to Allegras in a completely different context. Additionally, the videos are most relaxing. almost like a meditation. Thank you and congratulations on continually achieving your dream!

From my own experience. Heating at winter can make stones crack or remove from the glue-cement. But yeah see how will go for the upcoming winter. I started watching your series yesterday, they are awesome and definitely encouraging and propounding (even it definitely need s a skills and knowledge to build Cabin or a Wooden house witch you definitely have. ) All people say that they want to do this, cause our ancestors did this in the close past and its our identification and a code of existence for the future. Thanks for sharing this

I think we tend to take high quality content for granted. Once upon a time you'd have been able to sell these videos in sets. It's like Ray Mears but in carpentry. Very interesting and very inspiring. I've been watching all week, every night in my free time and it's actually given me the nudge to begin a carpentry course. So thank you. After I have watched this one I will go back and like every episode. I hope you have made some good money through ads because you deserve it. Have a great Summer 2019

Just gotta tell you something we do. Because of the length of the chimney and the pitch of our roof, James cleans the chimney from the inside like you did in this video. But he pokes a little hold in the bottom of the bag and slips the handle of the brush thru it, then tapes it on the chimney, that way all the creosote and ash stays in the bag and not in your house. Works great

thank you so much for sharing your video I have a cottage nestled up against the Allegheny mountains I made a headboard out of an old board and I broke up branches to do decorations on my headboard but I think you're doing a fantastic job I admire you since I come from the mountains what you do is down-to-earth good luck and I hope everybody follows your lead

Can't stress the importance of keeping the chimney clean and in good repair. Had enough chimney fires on the farm to realize this, but I guess the previous generation didn't see the value. :: smirk: : Chimney cleaning was unfortunately done after the fire, which is not the correct order. Keep moving forward. Love the videos and seeing the progress.

use a pipe around the chimney for water heating not just house you even can make like heating system. U are losing a lot of heat trough chimney. I remember in my grandma house use to have what we call hot wall.

Stone hearth is really a work of art as well as serving a useful function. I never cease to be amazed by the creativity, patience going in to each project. Lots of work too.
