The morning brings temps into the -40oC, but doesn't slow up the bite as we hook into several small stocked splake. We find that our holes have frozen solid as expected and chip out using the ice saw. The morning brings on a pretty strong fish bite and the rest of the day is spent trying to stay warm over fire. I also test out my brand new gigantic hobo stove which I designed for cooking while winter ice fishing. Turns out, that it works quite well. We eat plenty of venison, rice, and even some veggies. - we eat well! Watch to find out if our minnow trap proved successful. We didn't close out the day very well, but we ended up with 6 small-ish splake that all looked like they were from this year. Not sure why they were so small. Could be a low productivity year. but usually those splake would be 12+ inches or so after have spend 6 months in the lake. Still comparable to trout from a small stream, so that's okay, they all eat the same. Silky Saws (special order Katanaboy): The saw used in the video is the silky katanaboy. Should have went out further on the lake and then you would have got bigger fish by the shore you're just catching the minerals that are hanging out by the shore the big ones would be out in the middle of Lake couple hours you could have had enough

grade a gear, buddy has nice mitts and coat. that 200- pull saw looks kickass i was just pulling a 12- buck saw, cleared a fallen tree and bunch of bush behind the backyard. snows a bit deep, it will have to be redone come spring.

Yup, marten, not a weasel or muskrat or fox or beaver or mink or deer or otter or wolf or badger or skunk or rabbit, thems ' pine marten ' foot prints in the snow. That cold weather keeps it all a moving.

i live up by Cochran in northern Ont and when it gets -40 or -50 i wear a balaclava. with snowboarding goggles. the goggles really help to keep your eyes and lashes from freezing up

You really should cut the blood line right by the gills as soon as you catch a fish and let the blood run out. It will make the meat taste a lot better
