PADDLE SWATTING BULLFROGS (Hilarious) - Catch and Cook on a ROCK! Canadian Wild Tour Ep1

When we realize that my favorite brook trout spot has been spoiled, we turn out sights on bullfrogs and decide as the night falls to go after them. We cook the bullfrogs on a rock primitively and the meat is quite good. One Wildcrafter: Ep 1: Ep 2: Ep 3: A flashlight is very handy when hunting bullfrog as the light blinds them. You still have to react smoothly and precisely or the frogs will scatter. We mostly used the blunt end of the paddle to knock the frogs out. You can easily use a bow and arrow, air rifle, pellet gun, or slingshot. You can even buy special frog gigs that do a great job on frogs. Anything will do really, even a big rock. Bullfrogs are easy to track down and if you get them at the end of the mating season, the males will alert you of their location. The others can be shinned with a bright light and their eyes will glow. If you are not careful while bull frog hunting, you will spook them and they will go under water for a while or duck into cover. Thankfully bull frogs forget quick enough and will come back up from underwater and do their calls again. The only real edible part of the frog are it's legs. We cleaned the bull frogs for eating by cutting off the front half and then just cooking on a rock with the skin on. The skin peels off right after it is cooked. The bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus or Rana catesbeiana, is olive green back with a whitish belly spotted with yellow or grey. The upper lip is often bright green and males have yellow throats. Bullfrogs live in large, permanent water bodies, such as swamps, ponds, and lakes, where it is usually found along the water's edge. The male bullfrog defends a territory during the breeding season. His call is reminiscent of the roar of a bull, which gives the frog its common name. The bullfrog is harvested for use as food in North America, but rarely in Canada making it very abundant. Check local regulations for open seasons. The legs of the bullfrog are where most of the edible portions come from. The meat tastes very much like tough chicken. Some people will keep bullfrogs as pets

U taught me where warm waters halt. and u feature it in this video with trout river inhabitants. so if anyone could figure out the truth of this poem by a man vs nature. it-s Wooded beardsman. If you solve this (in New Mexico) you will have found a nationwide treasure people have died just to discover.
-As I have gone alone in there
And with my treasures bold,
I can keep my secret where,
And hint of riches new and old.
Begin it where warm waters halt (IMO trout stream waters)
And take it in the canyon down,
Not far, but too far to walk.
Put in below the home of Brown. (Spanish for brown is Moreno)
From there it-s no place for the meek,
The end is ever drawing nigh;
There-ll be no paddle up your creek,
Just heavy loads and water high.
If you-ve been wise and found the blaze, (blaze= the symbols on trees to Mark a trail)
Look quickly down, your quest to cease,
But tarry scant with marvel gaze,
Just take the chest and go in peace.
So why is it that I must go
And leave my trove for all to seek?
The answers I already know,
I-ve done it tired, and now I-m weak. (Forrest Fenn is now 80 years old)
So hear me all and listen good,
Your effort will be worth the cold.
If you are brave and in the wood
I give you title to the gold.

my Grampa taught me the best method. fishing pole, small trout hook, rap red thread around the bottom quarter of hook. leave a small half inch piece of the red thread hanging loose and bam! hold the hook near them and game on. thats as creative as i ever got with the hook, never had one not gulp it so left what worked. Gramps had a long bamboo fishing pole i would use. more reach is more gooder lol! oh, the best part when yer 10. peel the skin off the back legs, only part i ate. put all the legs on a plate, put the salt to em an wach em start kicking each other off the plate lol! i remmbere them being on the menue in a couple restaurants, in Canada. expensive!

Too many commercials. Great content but the commercials were sometimes stacked three deep. And were mostly spam advertising for making thousands a month to ads for games. I miss having my subscription where I could view these and other videos without having to deal with that. Where can I find that link again?

did you know that you can do the same thing with sunfish, in shallow water? if the fish are 4- or so, in 6- of water, in small pools in late summer, it works great. I've used a short board nailed across a pole when I was a kid.

I love the sound of those Loons! Is that a wild game Burger? I thought Jeremy was only eating wild foods for the year? He has a burger on bread. Was that all wild sourced?

These videos always make me hungry, got to put it on pause half way through and cook me something to eat. I made it to the -rock burger- part this time before submitting.

Were you still on the lake with no fish at 25: 06 mark as there was lots if surface action behind you, unless it was something else in the water and not fish.

I have only eaten frog legs a few times and loved them. Great video but what a shame about the lake. Will the fish repopulate it at some time?
reply

Ive never understood why people only eat the frog legs. We always gutted em and eat everything but the head on most species.

My rule of thumb when camping is to 'Take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints. '
