Making some really great progress on the small cabin now with more interior construction finishes. First we mill the boards with our HD36 Norwood portable sawmill out of ash trees which were affected by the emerald ash borer. After letting the fresh milled wood sit and dry, we move on the the wall coverings including the vapor barrier and drywall. Drywall might seem like an odd covering for an off grid cabin in the woods, but it will do a lot for what we need such as boasting the thermal mass. We didn't want all the walls to be made out of wood because then it would look like a wood box, rather than something appealing to the eye. We use a chainsaw to cut down the rest of the big cherry tree so that we can turn it into some kind of furniture for the cabin, maybe a table or some cabinets - we'll see! As always we use the tractor which is a great homesteading tool. Next we install the drywall, while Kevin gives you some tips on how to do it properly. CABIN

Man, can definitely tell ur brothers, lol, perpendicular is best for structural strength but I've found its 6 of one and half dozen of the other. Done plenty of rock in and mudding and the mudding is the cure all, providing the rock was hung properly. You guys obviously know what you're doing as everything comes out looking professional, great job guys!

Hi,
I am new to the series. However I am watching your cabin build and it is awesome. I live in Michigan and it has me thinking of doing something similar up north or UP. The only problem is that it will be paid by myself. I don't have a talented brother -. But it is awesome keep it going.

You guys are AMAZING! I watched your whole season one 4 hour in one swoop, had to come back for more. Happy to see you finish out the interior and also got distracted with watching Kevin's series on the outhouse. Great cabin, great property. great collaborations!

When trees are just too big for your lawnmower, er, tractor engine. I have NEVER seen a cherry tree that big, that's nuts. I really enjoy watching you milling your own wood, love it. Only thing is it seems weird to put drywall inside an otherwise all wood cabin.

Why didnt you just use canned spray foam like fire block for the outlets? Wouldve cost less and wouldve been quicker. And more effective. I installed insulation for a a living for a few years

Love the work, just cringed when I saw you assisting the tractor by lifting the forks. LOTS of weight there. if hydraulics fail, you'd be hurt. be careful. The worlds better with you in it.

Instead of breaking your back trying to lift the log AND hydraulics, why didn't you build up a small incline of soil and flat boards to drive the front of the tractor up?

I feel like I may had a bit disrespectful with my last comment, I truly didn't intend to be. I'm a handyman so Kevin pertains to me.
