SOLAR POWER at the Cabin (Off Grid) - Cabin Wildlife, Deer Archery Season Prep

Our new off grid solar power system from Inergy, Apex has arrived and is ready to be installed at the small cabin in the woods Inergy: We will attempt to mount the solar panels way up in the tree, 40 feet up in order to get maximum power from the sun. When that fails, we are forced to mount them to the gas generator house we call 'the dog house'. We'll need to move the power house generator further away from the cabin and in the sun later in order to produce free off grid power for the tiny house. We will show you how to install the solar system which runs a small portable battery system. Included are two fixed, rigid solar panels, and one soft portable panel that can be taken with us on off grid adventures in the wilderness and power all our needs. The solar system we are installing would work for a shed or rv, motor home or small house. It comes with a portable solar power bank and is a complete system. We will review the operation of the solar system in future adventures

The obvious solution would have been to rent a hi lift, or a cherry picker, or a bucket truck so you could install the solar up in the trees!
I'm sure with all your connections that you know somebody who works for the power company, a tree trimming company, or the phone company that would have been able to help you with a bucket truck.
You guys did a great job on the cabin, but I think you will come to find out that it is too small.
You have the mill, and tons of lumber, so I would have made it twice the size and added at least a separate bedroom, and a dedicated kitchen, with a big covered porch.
Yes, more time and labor now, but more rewarding, and useful for the family and friends later.

The plan was to be low energy. I am curious as to why you did not use LED and or 12V lighting for most of your needs. It would save the wasted energy converting 12V battery to 110V and the loss of energy converting 110V back to LED lighting voltage of 12V. Just a suggestion to extend your battery life and your usable energy charge. Of course your tools, etc would need the generator and now you can use your new solar converter to power those that require 110V.

Those Inergy are far and away the best on the market. You just have to understand that using solar panels will take a while to charge in full sun. Having said that I'm going to be getting one to start with for my year round off grid cabin. You can add more units on top of them also. Cheaper faster and no work setting up a small total off grid solar system.

If you have squirrels or other rodents around the area, be surprised if you don-t, keep an eye on the leads for your solar panels. They love to chew on the insulation and can ruin your panel in minutes! Some screen around your frames down to the roof should help keep them out! Great to see more vids of the project. Your an inspiration for sure!

It's probably a blessing in disguise that you kept the solar on the ground. I don't think it would be very fun climbing 40ft in the air in the dead of winter when you have to go brush the snow off the cells when you're getting no charge on a sunny day.

Loving this series but you should've put 1 solar panel on each side of the doghouse because the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. if you place the dog house door facing north/south you'd get solar power morning and evening.

you come across as a very calm and nature loving individual! why do want to kill a beautiful deer? talk to your kids about it because they are hardwired to care for nature! we should all go back to our child mentality.

Nice area with that old stand. Glad to see you rebuilding it. Good luck this deer season, esp with the bow. Looking forward to seeing the videos. Especially a deer catch and cook.
