Not only does the fees for licenses provide for wildlife conservation, there are taxes added to equipment used for hunting and fishing that goes to conservation. In 1950 the Dingell-Johnson Act was signed into law. This law created a tax on all fishing gear sold in the United States. Everytime a piece of fishing tackle or equipment is sold, the money collected through the tax is set aside for conservation purposes. This money is then reimbursed back to wildlife management agencies across the country. The Pittman-Robertson Act puts an 11 percent tax on sales of firearms, firearm ammunition, archery equipment, and arrow components and distributes it to state governments for wildlife projects. When President Franklin Roosevelt signed the act into law in 1937, it redirected an existing tax on firearms and ammunition to the Department of the Interior to fund state programs for habitat management, wildlife surveys, species reintroduction, and hunter education.

I don't understand the alleged justification for fishing licenses for fishing in SALTWATER! I can see charging Commercial Fishing in saltwater, but still only a degree. What does government do to actually protect and so-called manage saltwater fishing. The major fisherman are Commercial in nature Does the government pay to say restock saltwater species I have a lot of questions about that, and always did. I live next to the Sea of Cortez in Sonora, Mexico, and here you only need a fishing license when fishing from a boat. That would be in saltwater or freshwater. Everyone has access to water here, so fishing from shore is a Constitutionally Protected RIGHT, so people can feed themselves.

I believe only commercial fisheries need to pay for fishing licenses & taxes. They take much more from the water than any amount of residents take. I believe residents should be expelled from this law. We have entirely too much waterfront property to charge residents. I think it would be a different story we were quite limited on our waterfront property. But that isn't the story. I believe alligators should be part of that license department. If you need to get a fishing license, alligators should be included on that license.

Of all the govt agencies, I believe fish and game actually earn their keep. I live in Tennessee and have all of the necessary licenses there to fish. I also have Florida licenses and permits for fresh water, salt water, and all of the add-ons needed to reef fish, etc. Even at out of state prices, I consider it a value. You can get them online, so it doesn't even require leaving the house!

Tell everyone to stop complaining. Your license is $34 try living in Washington state to buy a combination license in our state it's $79. 00 and they close areas on us with no warning because of low numbers at the hatchery but then they extend the Indians netting at the time. Tell me how bad you guys have it.

i always purchase my licenses for sport fishing or hunting, but i do think its bs i have to pay someone to tell me what i can and cant do, change laws after new law books come out and be expected to know everything all the time. its being taking to far!

Great adventure as always! I think you're using the Telesin holder around your neck, the PGYTECH is much better. It's a lot easier to latch and unlatch on the neck. Also the Gopro detaches with a clip rather than the twist magnet thing.

Oregon fishing license is $29. for resident. seniors don't get a discount. i will be 65 in january. our regulations really suck here. but the salmon are on the run up the Columbia river.

If you NEED a fishing license to fish, fishing is a privilege not a right. We should have a RIGHT to feed ourselves IMO. Everyone already pays plenty of TAXES to government!

We really don't mind the language, it only shows that one is human, and I know when you lose a fish one just curses like no other. At least I do LOL. Great video

Yeah. In SC. I was 45 days past my expiration date. $155 fine. He helped me out when I didn’t have to pay all of it at once, they have a payment plan.

I am so glad I got my kids Lifetime Saltwater Fishing Licenses when they were young. Now we all have them and don't have to worry about them anymore.

Here in Indiana they have lifetime fishing license when you turn 64 you can get senior license dont half to pay for them anymore
