Fishing Adventure in the Wilderness

Craig and I head out to Toledo Bend Lake on the border of Texas and Louisiana to go on a fishing adventure for largemouth bass. We brought our kayaks and were fishing shallow water around lily pads and grass using frogs. We were fishing hollow body frogs and buzz frogs to catch the big bass. It was a crazy weekend of bugs, bass fishing, kayaking on a huge lake, and some interesting moments with some cajuns. Toledo Bend Lake is in the wilderness and sits in the middle of an east Texas pine tree forest full of wildlife like bald eagles, whitetail deer, and even alligators. I've been watching your videos for years, of all the times you guys are frog fishing, you lose a large % of fish. I notice you use a lot of spro frogs and I started with them too, however hated losing so many fish. try a jackall iobee frog. I never turned back. I've been using the iobee for almost 5 years and can count the number of fish that came off on one hand. if your tired of losing frog fish, get a better frog.

I typically fish from a kayak. Kayak fishing is a ton of fun, mostly because it gives you the freedom to go where a lot of boats can't. I do love the freedom of a bass boat though (by freedom I mean, the ability to let blood flow in a normal fashion. The best, when you hook a pig in a kayak and it takes you for a FREE RIDE!
Awesome video! Thanks for the trip! Congratulations to your buddy!

1. Science has proven that Craig videos increase views and thumbs up-per video. 2. Science has also proven that kayaks make for more interesting videos, which, result in more views.
But ultimately, the conversations between anglers are probably more interesting on a bass boat (Unless kayaking down the Guad or smaller bodies of water)
Either way, love the content. Thanks!

You cannot have a better time fishing in places like those you fished with anything but a kayak. And, you cannot see the things in or on the water in a bass boat that you can see in a kayak. I love kayak fishing. But, you can't beat a bass boat for open water fishing in a lake or river. The stability is nice. They both have their advantages, don't they?

Kayak fishing definitely rocks! I'm in central Ar and we have a great community of Kayak bass fisherman. We actually have a tournament trail. Oct 1 is our central division championship(I'm currently 4th ) the next weekend in State championship at Lake Dardanelle. Come on up and check it out. Look up The razorback tournament trail on fb.

Justin your videos are so well presented and your personality shines. So glad you're likin' kayak fishing because I would far rather see/do that than burn/smell gas all day. What makes kayak fishing preferable? I think you inadvertently summarized perfectly with the title of THIS video.

Both the kayak and the bass boat have their place. I prefer the kayak, but some places I fish you just can't really get to the fish in a timely manner. A 15 min run in the bass boat is a several hour pedal in the Pro Angler.

LakeForkGuy when frog fishing, what kind and size line do you recommend fishing with? I'm thinking of getting a kayak and wanted to check out all of your kayak videos. I watch all of your videos. Keep up the good work.

big fan of the yak over the boat, just a better feel to me. question, what neck/face covers do you use, they seem much looser than the ones i have found. keep up the great work sir.

I would definitely do kayak fishing just because you can get into lakes where you aren't allowed to use gas engines. Just think of some those lakes that are untouched by the masses.
