The Buck GOT AWAY! Ground Hunting Whitetail Deer

The Buck GOT AWAY! Ground Hunting Whitetail Deer

Hunting whitetail deer from the ground during rifle season in Texas. I expected to get a doe, but when a big mature buck came out, I took aim. I was amazed at how many deer I could get close to by being exposed on the ground with no blind. When the sun and wind are right, it is possible to get very close to a whitetail deer. There were also some wild turkeys that I came close to, but their eye sight was just too good for me filming the hunt. As an outdoorsman, I took today's experience as a big learning lesson in taking the right bucks and making sure that my deer rifle is going to function before I need to pull the trigger

If you are going to use a high caliber Assault rifle why are you only firing once. It would be more humane and it would cost you less time if you fired on it 3-10 or until it dies. I don't hunt but that Is what I think would be more humane and cost you less time. To me it feels like a waste of an assault rifle to only fire once because you can fire once with a musket from 1760. Please tell me if I am wrong.

never, and I say again NEVER has my stick-n-steel bolt. 308 misfired. Put the black plastic down, pick up a decent rifle, and ALWAYS shoot a few rounds in the actual position you'll be hunting in. Maybe next time your shot won't be 6 right.

Wait. so you could lay down on the ground without him detecting movement but couldn't softly pull the bolt action back and forth? Edit: just remembered it's an ar format. But still couldn't pull the handle back?

I just am able to watch your videos and realized I had the same thing happen to me maybe a week or two before. Went to take a shot on a doe and click. She was gone. Haven't seen her or any other deer since.

it doesn't matter if it flys, swims or walks the earth. the younger it is the better it taste.
not saying i would take a fawn in spots but a 2 yo deer is a lot tastier than an old mature 6yo buck.

Mine did this this past weekend on my second shot at a spike. I ended up having to wait until the next morning to get another shot at him
