some notes from my hours of rabbit, or should I say, squirrel hole diving.
REMOVE ANY SHOT/PELLETS
the way you cleaned works great.
IF the butt hole part bugs you. another way is wet them in a bucket, and cut a slit in the skin in the middle of the back, insert a finger from each hand and pull away from each other. will pants him and shirt him all in one motion.
when cleaning, REMOVE THE GLANDS FROM THE ARMPITS, looks like little fatty noodles. this makes musk and adds to the gamey flavor. yuck.
Vacuum seal or ziplock bag em once cleaned and chill in fridge for at least 1 week to remove more gamey flavor and tenderize.
after that prepare like any other chicken dish you prefer. just be careful of bones.

Please link the air gun that you use? because I just purchased a tactical slingshot with all the fixings and I'm about to go squirrel hunting in my backyard. I'm really getting tired of these damn little bastards destroying my mom's feeders! She spends so much on feed for the song birds and on the feeders and these little fat bastard keep wrecking her stuff, so now I'm about to wreck some squirrel Rambo Style!

I was wondering why all the squirrel recipes I've found on Youtube involved stewing, even after they were originally fried. You answered that for me - the meat is tough. Perhaps next go around you can make a nice squirrel stew that the missus will enjoy.

Squirrels, hogs, edible birds. sounds like a backyard grand slam! Shoot all of that with the Airforce rifle and youll start a trend lol. Btw, blasting wasps with a gust of air (no pellets) from an airgun and you blast the wings off.

My last squirrel meal was like eating hot wings, tender, and falling off the bone. The only step you left out is to first boil the squirrel meat for at least 45 minutes. then do everything just like you did. The difference is amazing

FYI Canola oil is from the rapeseed plant; a plant containing erucic acid which may or may not be harmful to infants. Grape seed oil is the way to go if you want to avoid concerning compounds but still want to fry food nicely.

After your fry all your squirrels. Put them in a pressure cooker on a grate for 10min. The meat will fall apart. You'll eat it so fast over and over until you bite down on a shotgun lead

Hey what you need to do to keep the squirrel from being tough is put it in salt water over night which you did for a few hours but a pressure cooker really does the trick
