Tuna RUINED with Lactic ACID! Catch n Cook- Yellowfin Tuna Fishing (Ahi)

I have been dying to do a Yellowfin Tuna trip in the Bahamas for the last couple years and finally got the chance to cross over to the islands. We stayed in Port Lucaya on Grand Bahama island and fished the Northwest Providence Channel for Tuna and Mahi- Mahi Dolphin, in a combination of chunking and trolling. The conditions were tough as the seas were rough both days and the Tuna birds were not flying like they usually do. Made the most of the situation and boated a few tuna and did a catch n cook at the end of the video, making an ahi tuna poke bowl and grilled blackened tuna steaks.

the best way to stop that lactic acid build-up is by using a method called 'Ikejime' to kill the fish.
first, you take a metal spike and insert it into the fish's brain, making it brain dead.
Then, you cut the gills, with one cut each.
thirdly, make a cut just above the tail, cutting through the backbone,
then, take a long, thin metal wire and insert it into the backbone of the fish, put it in and out several times.
Finally, place the fish into a slurry of one part ice, and one part water.
this improves the taste and allows the fish to be refrigerated for months at a time without having any fishy odor or taste.
using this method allows the meat to create complex flavors. Basically, you can age the meat, similar to the way red meat ages.

For this reason, it is very important at the time of fishing and hooking to prevent bleeding and damage to areas of edible meat. Therefore, the bleeding should be performed at the lowest possible temperature and in the shortest time subjecting the animal to a salt water bath during the process.

GG (Gut&Gill) the fish so the meat does not get burned. right when u catch um knockout first cut the gills make a slice by the dodo hole cut the cords pull gills guts will follow. then brain um immediately after catching

You use olive oil for your tuna before putting on the grill. When I tuna in a pan to sear I use sesame seed oil. Have you used it and if so was there negative affects from using the sesame seed oil on the grill.

Thumbs down for the misleading title. I've caught four large ahi in HI on four trips. I was hoping to learn something, not be mislead. Using click-bait titles because everyone else is doing it is bogus.

Hmmm, I dont understand the negative comments. Yellowfin tuna. Catch n cook. I dont see click-bait. I enjoyed the vid! AND now Im hungry, lol! Keep crankin em out Vik!

Every time I watch a fishing video from FL or Louisiana I am amazed at the ease of fishing. just remember Chunk don't swim, itll make setting the hook easier for you guys.
reply

Dudes; put some live bait on with the chunks if you can carry it. And do not hesitate to sharpen hook points; that problem of dropping off the hook won't happen as often.

The seas on video are weird, I've got video of 2-3 feet seas and it looks flat calm, so I have learned if you can see the waves on video they are 4+. So strange.
