I didnt even know there was rod and reel commercial fishing! I though commercial fishing was with net. This is super- interesting and definitely way more sustainable than netting. It would be good if the market made a distinction between product that come from rod and reel (i guess it could be labelled as sustainable) and product that come from nets, which I guess is less sustainable as you pick up everything, small fish that has not reproduced yet etc included. The laws should support mire sustainable ways of fishing, if they re being used out there. It s bad that the customers dont even know they exist

It's beautiful to see this type of fishing alive and well! Rod n Reel commercial fishing is without a doubt more sustainable. I live in Washington State and commercial trawlers destroyed the puget sound and almost left Rockfish extinct. Certain netting methods not only kill with by-catch, but can also destroy valuable structure needed for healthy fish populations. Also, I am incredibly jealous of your fisheries down in FL!

You guys are blessed. Its been a while since Ive owned a boat but as the skies have aligned Im picking up a 32 searay today for pennies. Only missing motor and out drive. All else is there. Might be back on the water by the end of summer. This video is filled with great info. Definitely going to be looking into obtaining a comm, fishing license in my state.

Commercial fishing with nets trawlers and and huge factory ships should be banned. Fish are disappearing from the oceans. Salmon fishing regs for fisherman up and down the west coast. Stop commercial netting and let's see what happens to fish populations. I have absolutely no problem with what you guys are doing. Looks like a lot of fun.

Sorry, but when I was commercial rod and reel, I sold quality fish, not deck load fish. Particularly mackerel, bleed immediately, put in a kill box, then a brine box, the a pack box. I made a living on a 31 Bertram that way, and never sold fish that looked like this. I just hope the final consumer didnt get a soft, spoiled fillet.

Can we get a thumbs up for all the hard working commercial fishermen out there? Commercial fishing is often portrayed in a bad light and I want to change that! The truth is these are hard working people, who abide by all the regulations made by NOAA and other governing bodies.
