I don t know why it bugs me so much that Brook and you always seem to downplay or talk down about fresh water fish. Not everyone is privileged enough to live near the Gulf or coast, and fresh water fish is what we eat when we eat fresh fish. It makes you both sound very snobbish. I love your videos but this topic is one that really annoys me every time you do a catch, clean, cook on a freshwater species.

Hey victor, you mentioned how you can rinse these Oscar s off with freshwater because they are from freshwater. I just moved here from utah and am new to the saltwater fishing game. I have caught a couple snapper and porgy from dania beach pier. Are you not supposed to wash fish like that with fresh water? Does it ruin the filets? I didnt know about this rule.

I highly recommend you try golden shiners as your next trash fish video. They are actually one of my girlfriend and I's favorite. They soak up the flavor of whatever you cook them in, and other than the spine, you can chew right through the rest of the tiny bones. We catch 8-10 inch ones on her dad's dock with brim hooks and bait

Those fish sandwiches look great! Next time you bread those Oscars try using ground up Ritz crackers and Panko. I use about 3 to 1 ratio of crackers to Panko on my yellow perch. The crackers give you a nice buttery flavor. It s a big hit with family!

Jaguar Guapote, it is a cichlid. Oscars are also cichlids. Peacock Bass are also cichlids. They are not related to large mouth or black bass, believe it or not. There are so many cichlid species it is crazy. Tilapia are. cichlids.

I'm born and raised in SoFlo Cutler Ridge. But have family in South Jersey. Those were the worst tomatoes I've laid eyes on. South Jersey sweet corn and tomatoes are absolutely something to behold.

Just curious, why throw back any invasive species you catch, regardless of size? I d think one less from the mating population the better, even if too small for human consumption.
