In this episode of Field Trips: West Coast, I'm spending another day with John Kenny, this time in a place called Leffingwell. On our way down the mountains to the water, I notice something weird about the ocean: I can't see it. An eerie fog has blanketed the Pacific as far as the eye can see, and we'll be venturing out into great white country with about 15 feet of visibility. With lingcod scratched off my list in Morro Bay, I'll be looking for the beautiful and tasty red vermillion rockfish. Watch until the end for a preview at episode 7!

That was great, always nice to see those reds come up. I remember my first Vermillion just north of leffingwell. You sold yourself short. That's was a Black rockfish that you called a blue and said looked like a bass.

Hey bro I been watching your of your videos and I notice you fish off a hobie outback. And I just watched this video of you fishing from a Old-town PDL. Which pedal dive you like? Planing on buying one soon.

Someone else has already said the first Blue was actually a Black Rockfish. Pretty much if it has a mouth like a largemouth bass, it's a Black. If it has a mouth like a smallmouth bass, it's a Blue.

I wish the water where I live was EVER this calm. I've literally never been out in water this calm that wasn't freshwater. I constantly have to fight currents/swells.

If you want to catch big lings. You use one of those rock cod as bait a hook threw the fron lip with a treble trailer and let that sit 4 feet off bottom

Robert, amazing video. Production quality equally compares to anything on WFN. Looking forward to seeing your tv show in the future.
