I find GN to be THE BEST in REAL cmsy data- CRUCIAL info for ALL consumers as well as buisinesses relevant and tangent (any sys products involved- as GN takes the guess work out of the equation; leaving all with solid info on the claimed performance vs. THE ACTUALL performance of the products. Not watching GN before buying something is a big No No No ) Thank you for this vid and considering later on membership Steve. My fam includes VERY high level R&D in sensitive areas- I had a circle uncut wafer from Silicon Valley MANY YEARS AGO my dad gave me, and I was involved in many program pre-decisions w respect to remote sensing applications for SERIOUS data collection to further our (humanity) understanding of many things- to sum that up appropriately. Thank you for your excellent program and thus work ethic- many of your ways I and others share as they are in fact NECASSARY in result-driven program management; or said program simply has their funding reduced to ZERO. I definately have contributions and will save that for patron forum as here I've said what is both needed, and the truth; GN is the BEST for both understanding and factual performance data of cmsys parts and entire setup performance. Grats! Saw the live stream too but the recaps are more cohesive. Supply does not appear to be a problem for this chip (probably because its so expensive. I got mine on Monday and have been putting it through its paces. It's almost 3 times faster than the 2990WX for our bulk build workloads, though that's at 410W. The efficiency is looking pretty awesome when I ratchet the power down to 275W. Still running those tests but so far my 3990X is around twice as fast as the 2990WX at that power setting. The power ramp fro the TR3 is smooth as glass compared to testing the TR2 last year. After a simple BIOS update, everything just worked straight out. CPU temps are so cool, I can't believe how well it works at stock settings on the MSI TRX40 PRO 10G. It stabilized at 71C at 410W with the Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 tower cooler (with two fans, not one) running a 5+ hour bulk compile. At 275W the CPU is only running 55C and getting roughly 2. 7 GHz all-cores. Still, I think the 3990X's efficiency peak is more likely closer to 3 GHz (probably around 325W. Which is what I care about the most: -) I haven't gotten to that test yet. I am a very happy camper. -Matt

I was curious, and pardon for being way off subject, but what are some components on a motherboard that would significantly benefit from placing a Heatsinks on it? There are some really decent raspberry pie Heatsinks on amazon these days, and I figured every drop of heat dissipation is worth a few bucks. As an example, I know you mentioned cooling an m. 2s controller could help (but you stressed if it s throttling. Also, you should totally use a car radiator on a build some time. That would be a priceless mod to witness, and it s totally feasible with suck skilled hands and intelligence as yourself.

The circuit board is air permeable. If you want to cure the water problem, the entire motherboard needs to be below the dew point. IOW, the mobo needs to be in a sub ambient freezer with the pot sticking up for access. Then there would never be the chance for liquid water to form. In addition, there would not be a need for insulation on the board itself. As long as the board is below the dew point, water can't form and the refrigeration will remove water from the air and make it drier in that space. Think a kegerator but with a LN2 pot instead of a tap.

Just a question from a overclocking noob, to everyone capable of answering; It seems that the water condensation seems to be a big issue in extreme OC. Would it be feasible to encase the system (apart from the liquid nitrogen feed tube) in a vacuum seal with all gas inside exchanged from oxygen of 1 atm to nitrogen of 1 atm? The gaseous nitrogen inside the enclosed system would of course warm up in time, so there would have to be another system to get rid of excess heat outside. I suspect I''m missing something crucial here, so please feel free to correct me.

i have a question regarding overclocks, is a CPU under constant 100% load on all cores supposed to have constant V, W, A draw? how much ripple is normal or should there be any? example I am running my ryzen 3600 4. 25 ghz on all cores. using aida 64 stability test, i am pulling between 89 - 95 W, TDC 42- 45 A, EDC 130 - 135 W, and the cores vid are starting at 1. 5 volts and under load going to 1. 08 V. ive tried load line to modes 2, 1 same ripple, although mode 1 was more stable. Do i need to set all V, W, A to overide settings? or is auto always bad?

Have you ever tried coating the bottom of the CPU with petroleum jelly (or even ram edge contacts? I used to do this with some budget CPU cryo cooling in Texas where the humidity was extreme. You can also use a brush to paint it over the motherboard to keep condensation rolling off instead of soaking into things. It is kinda messy/nasty, especially for the sockets and receivers, but could be cleaned off later or kept like that for all future benches. I know it's a 400 board but in the spirit of overclocking all cards are on the table, right?

Linus did a video where he did a state-change cooler, and used the kneaded eraser on the bottom of the board too, as well as around the socket, he actually disassembled the mounting bracket, to make sure that the kneaded eraser as complete as he could get it, he then went under to do it as well to protect the bottom of the board. Then he mentioned if you really wanted to go hardcore at it, you could use dialectric grease to protect a part that i'm forgetting off the top of my head, the memory maybe?

How many people (normal guy on the street) are going to use this in a Gaming Build? Normally I just laugh at the whole Price versus Performance myth that AMD users would use a last result in their argument. BUT FFS, no thanks man, I can get to 9 seconds flat in the 1/4 mile with the old Pontiac for less than than that. 4000. 00 would get me there and have enough left over for a lot more. Nice to see you guys doing this for everyone to see though.

When you show on the screen a shot of you doing a Google search or text explanation example, could you please enlarge the text or zoom in on the screen so it is legible to the viewer. So many content makers do not do this, especially with examples and tutorials. Please take into consideration that not all of us have a huge screen or fantastic vision to work with.
