The Best Pre-Built Cable Management We've Seen Origin Genesis Tear-Down

We're tearing down the 6600 Origin Genesis that we bought and reviewed in a previous video. Despite its problems with the CPU running 1GHz below advertised, the fans running at unbelievably loud speeds (to no gain), and small defects, Origin did an excellent job with the overall assembly and build quality of this system. The cable management is immaculate and the hard part - the water cooling - was done right (with some minor concerns that we discuss in this video). If they can correct their testing processes, they'll be in a strong and competitive position since they've got the hard part down. It's the simple stuff (like making sure the CPU actually works) that they need to fix.

It might be the best cable management you have ever seen, but it's by no means the best cable management possible.
I mean, look at it. There is still place for 5 more zip ties between each of the zip ties there. Minimum!
In my humble opinion, if you can still see the color of the cable peeking through the zip ties, it's not a job well done.
Seriously, though, someone got an addiction to zip ties there. There is too much of a good thing, and in my honest opinion it's way too many zip ties. I pity every owner of this machine who wants to re-configure their system. On the other hand, they will get valuable practice in using side cutters. You lose some, you win some, i guess...

For me, the lack of a drain valve turns this 7/10 (ignoring price) prebuilt into a 'zero'' or maybe 1 or 2/10.
Imagine if vehicle manufacturers did this:
Nah, let's not bother putting a sump plug on the engine in this motorcycle.
Yeah, I agree, it will save us time and money, plus, all the owner will have to do is take the engine half apart then hold the bike upside down and shake it. Simple.

not much uptime but i'd say it requires a proper clean within 1 year of use, not years and tha t is why i use a clear coolant for my loops when i build them, never will and never have used dyed coolant or any of that and i havent cleaned my loop in 2 years now and it still look like it brand new, no nickel plating is flaking off and performance is as good as it can be

How often are these prebuilds actually 9 or 10/10? To me it seems like you'll always be getting screwed on one thing or another, because they know that complaining and returning is too much work for people to go through... Maybe I'm just biased but I get stressed out about even thinking of ordering a prebuild after seeing all the mistakes that are regularly made.

Eh, the build quality wasn t great overall. The paint was problematic, the side panel had issues, and the fluid is clogging the loop after a very short period. The cable management was done well, and the hard lines were run decently. But no easy way to drain a clogging system means that ll be a very expensive paperweight for a lot of customers in a few years.

I can't imagine recommending anyone I know a prebuilt system. There are way too many straight up scams that makes it hard to justify a prebuilt system. Even if you happen to find a good deal on what looks like a decent prebuild you're only encouraging them to fall into future traps. I've built PCs for family and friends for 15+ years and never had a problem.

I dont understand why you think its good to put a cabletie every 3cm. Thats absolutly horror to troubleshot. ONLY use the velcro straps and the mounting points in the case. Stop using THAT MUCH plastic one-time-use cable ties. I dont want to cut my RGB cable when i disassemble my PC.
reply

Noooo, why u do that ? The RGB gonna gib you 15% more FPS..... how dare you !?!?
But in all seriousness though, why did the rgb got chewed like that (hope its just the RGB cable that are like that) ? Did they just stuff it on the GPU block and shoved it there ?

In case Corsair reads the comments, here is the SKU for the part you need: SKU CX-9055020-WW
You sell it to us for 20 bucks, so it's probably about 3 for you. for another 20 bucks to us, you could put a rotary splitter, and probably make this loop serviceable.

reply

Not having a drain is such a rookie miss, I did that on my first custom loop as in I missed adding one. That I sure fixed on the second loop I made cause it was a PAIN.
Also again shows why I prefer a clear coolant, just less chance for trouble.

That gpu waterblock is not correctly connected. Most of the water bypasses the waterblock. Does it affect thermal performance? Needs to be tested but it's still wrong way of connecting the water fittings. Even Corsair manual shows the correct way.

Unpopular opinion: zip ties every 3cm is not a good cable management. It's a nightmare to rearrange, especially if you don't have wirecutters and trying to cut them with scissors or knife. Velcro cable ties are so much better for this task.

Thank you for providing me a distraction as I work on permanently disabling windows defender after it bricked a HDD of mine and generally blocks my attempts to move files from my torrent folder to my NAS. God I hate microsoft so damned much
