Sponsor: Arctic Liquid Freezer III on Amazon - https://geni.us/5N1BRr9 Today we're reviewing the GameMAX Hype, which DEFINITELY ISN'T inspired by a Hyte Y60. The Hype case is anywhere from $100 to $200, depending on where and when you look, and has poorly copied nearly every aspect of the Hyte Y60. We haven't seen a ripoff this egregious previously, and that's because even the product page has literal copied & pasted text from real Hyte's product pages. This is part of our new case testing methodology that we debuted for 2024. You can learn some basics in our Fractal North XL review below. We previously reviewed & benchmarked the Hyte Y60 here: https://www.youtube.com/watchv=QNfsG-Ai2PA -- comparatively, it seems as if the Hype is a step beyond a Hyte clone. Showing all corporations what will happen when you seek cheaper labour in countries that don't have the same laws, you will be copied at some point with this corporate model. These corporations can do nothing about it just try to expose what is happening as in the country of manufacture they are not breaking any laws & ours don't have the power to go after them never mind the money involved, only one winner in law - the lawyers ! All made in the same factory with the same parts with different branding colours for most items esp tools. This is why I stopped buying a lot of what I used to as you received cheaper items with quality issues that only last a few year wanting more money from consumers that our countries spent decades making laws for now all for what One massive corporate rip off of consumers at top dollar people never question ! Planned obsolescence conditioning younger people to expect poor quality to buy many times at higher prices, we used to have the saying buy cheap buy twice, now it's buy cheaper as it's the same item as buying expensive that will last the same time & you will have to buy twice within it's life timeplus it's a good way to do your laundry

Can you test the Jonsbo TK-1 V2 Micro ATX case I've been trying to downsize my computer without losing out on the 4 ram slots. I have 128gb ram as I use a lot of CAD programs and I tend to ramdisk them or better throughput. I've been looking at this case for a while, but I've never seen a person review it. I've seen a few ASMR builds, but again they don't go into thermals, what's compatible and what isn't, etc. I've read the reviews, but I'd like to see your new testing methodology try it out. I've considered a lot of the cases in the smaller end that you tend to review, but I like the look of this case.

Yeah as someone who builds in shitty gamemax cases not surprising, the company i work at also has its own brand to copy other cases but its even worse recently saw a case that looked like fractal torrent... Nope it's just a front panle that looks similar everything else is different, same with hyte y60 and asus g502 there are really cheap copies with weirdest solutions like on copy of hyte y60 to install bottom fans it has its own bottom section as 1 piece that slides out(infact i think this is the same case just under gamemax logo) the gt 502 copy is just a box without anything else

The ridiculous part is that if they simply gave it a bit of thought and played around with the fan configs and the GPU mounting, it almost certainly would've been a better performer than the original. 3x120 bottom for intake, 3x140 side as intake utilizing all the extra height that is actually now lost to useless metal, 1x140 rear as exhaust, 3x120 top as exhaust and leaving only the vertical mount option, thus moving the GPU closer to the mobo and further away from the glass would've allowed for slightly positive pressure and much MUCH better thermal performance.

It's not a rip off.
Just those original cases are being build in China with great over producing and Chinese industries can't just throw the assembly lines.
So such rip off companies come in and buy out the surplus and then out-sell them by own branding.
The real issue is the over-price which consumer pay to the originals
The dirty capitalists just never bother to build their own assembly lines even in China itself. The issue is in outsourcing of the producing.

If you're going to try and battle Chinese companies stealing designs, you're going to need a big army. It's the basis of all their modern technology.
And the fact that they then make their products worse than the originals is why they struggle with the most advanced technologies, such as ASML's latest High NA EUV lithography chip-making machines. They simply do not possess the sophistication to make the high quality components required to make it work. It's kinda pathetic.

I think that the original case is terrible, I'm surprised they've managed to make the copycat version this bad.
Even though, I've bought their SIEGE BK a while ago. Case fans are shit (they've refused to work properly), the paint job is shit, the plastic is cheap , but it was the cheapest case I could find ($53) to fit a front mount of my arctic freezer II 420 and have a possibility to fit new long beefy GPUs (currently I'm at 3090, I'm gonna skip 4000 series).

The Hyte y60 only have half height slot openings Good to know. Now I don't even have to hate the visual design. If I can't mount standard expansion cards it's not in the list of possible cases no matter what. Now the Hype on the other had has full height card slots. But it's even ugglier than the Hyte Y60, which is an achievement, and are totally unthinkable because of that.
They aren't only bad at copying cases, they are even bad at choosing cases to copy.

I bought the Gamemax infinity case on tiktok shop with newegg as the seller for $60 total. This is a Lian Li O11 style case and the case is mostly solid except for the side panel which is incredibly thin compared to the other panels and has lot of ventilation making it very flimsy. There are also some weird gaps in the case but looks overall and ease to build in makes it a great value compared to Lian Li.

I snatched a gamdias aura gc2 elite case for 37 euros. The case is perfectly designed for airflow, and the only thing to note is that the fans are rubbish. But that is easily fixable, since the arctic P12 5x pack is around 32 euros. For the price of 69 euros I got myself a damn nice case with best quality fans on the market. That is a killer combo, a copy done right imo.

PC Cases are just a case for me if it's cheaper and use the materials vs the original like half of its price i would take it. I don't mind if its a copy or a rip-off if it gets the job done. Some people i know prefer open cases if not installed on a frickin piece of wood for maximum air flow and dust(rust if you're close to a beach).

Gamemax Spark and Jonsbo D30 is IDENTICAL, except the orientation of the top plastic grill and the exhaust fan grill. That said, for budget gamers, they're great lmao. $40 for a ITX/M-ATX MFFPC case that support ATX PSU, 240mm AIO and full sized GPU, it's a market that's no one is serving beside Gamemax, albeit with a stolen design.

you guys do great work but this video if it wasn't funny would've been a total loss of my time which I will never get back LOL bottom line is stop buying cheap chinese crap!!!!!!!! they can't even copy a great design of anything! in the case a person would be so bold to buy stuff like this they deserve it!!
reply

Lol never heard of either of these case makers but I'll be avoiding both in the future.
On the Gamdias subject I'm surprised to find them making copy cases seems last I seen of them they were just making mouse and keyboards that were unique and arguably had the best macro key placments of all time.

Hey Steve and the GN team, this comment is completely unrelated to this specific video, but could it be possible to have a gaming performance review of alternative operating systems like ChimeraOS, SteamOS, AtlasOS and TinyOS for example, relative to a stock windows 11 and windows 10 installation
reply

You make me feel bad for even having gamemax power supplies now, i am also wondering how bad they really are because of this botched case job can it really be that bad especially when you pay 150$ for them, man i got to get a ripple tester now.....Thanks Steve, back to you

I sub to Forgotten Weapons as well, and Ian has done videos about cheap Chinese warlord counterfeit pistols (typically the FN M1900). Chinese counterfeiters and copycats really seem to enjoy copying something without understanding the uses for the designs they copy.

That case is perfect if you want to retrofit a Pentium 4 vintage pc from early 2000's and give it a weird modern look. You might need to make some cuts to fit a dvd drive but its perfect knockoff. Also not everyone has RTX graphics cards that are huge in size.
reply

Technically plagiarism. But, Steve is a shameless shill, who has to somehow convince you to buy the more expensive case with lackluster thermals. So, he creates his own hype by abusing the word THEFT to swindle you into paying more for the exact same thing.

Did these fools seriously name one of their cases Autobot Hasbro may not be the giant it was in the early '00s, but to invite a lawsuit by using one of their trademarks as a product name is a special kind of dumb. Tha's pants on head levels of retarded.
