Sponsor: Thermal Grizzly Duronaut on Amazon - https://geni.us/tpgcPMw This review of the HAVN BF 360 Flow case analyzes its thermal performance in noise-normalized scenarios, full speed scenarios, and then looks at fan flow performance. We also added smoke testing back in due to popular demand from viewers, though we talk about some shortcomings with smoke flow testing. The HAVN BF 360 follows-up the company's HS 420 that we previously reviewed and feels like a direct competitor for the Fractal Torrent that has won our 'Best Case' award several times. We'll soon have testing for the HYTE X50 case soon as well.

For flow testig why don't you just use strings Strings are good visual indicators, you can color them and comparable to itself. You can play with the weight and length of the strings and flip the case on its 4 side to see how the strings behave in each situation against gravity, then create one flow path from the 4 result (maybe with AI :)
You can try 5 different strings in the same amount of time that you make the wooden box, so maybe worth the time. If you insist on PC odor you can dip the strings in different parume for each fan and smell the outputs and be like The back is more Laveder than Old Spice overpovering the GPU wifu scent and the top is definitely strong AXE with a hint of Lavender.
When I compared blower fans I used weighted string to see how much air they can push out, I simply increased the weight until it showed difference between the fans. I know it's a different solution for a different problem.
New idea jut popped in my mind, what if you use strings but attach both sides and leave the strings loose.

I'm all for bigger fans in theory but the first thing that comes to my mind is, what about replacement parts/upgrades down the line.
Being stuck with the one initial proprietary/custom option usually results in a disaster ultimately where you just see on their own part website down the line when you need one, if they even sell them first party in the first place.
Also im getting into grumbling old man age, and find noise from PCs more annoying every year to the point anything below noctuas in terms of noise profile is unacceptable to me. So I'd want a noctua level 160mm or 180mm or 200mm etc available before I get a case like this.
Edit: im aware there is a noctua 200mm but its like 8 years old and predates their latest stage of technological advancements that really made them near inaudible, and it looks more geared towards quasi industrial purposes rather than silence.

I am a total amateur but just had some thoughts about the fog box, you could drill a pluggable exhaust port for the clean air to come out as you fill it with smoke, and for the main port that faces the computer, you could keep a porous mesh covering it, so the sliding door behind it doesn't affect it as much.
was kinda thinking along the lines of the grid of vanes they have at the end of wind tunnels (like specialized's win tunnel) that condition the airflow. Not sure if my logic is correct or if it's at all applicable but just wanted to throw that in there.

I know at some point you will test the Be Quiet light base 500LX if you do get round to it could you test the back panel with a gap cut out of the back plate to allow air to flow through to the side fans vs in it's current state of covered by mesh some you tubers have said it would allow more air to flow to the side fans rather than trying to pull it through the mesh holes.. I've ordered the case myself and if they do back panels as a buying option I might buy a spare one and try it. I think it would also make the case look much nicer

I got this ( non flow ) on pre-order for a new build, will put too many radiators in it for water cooling just a measly CPU, bet hey i have a copper radiator surplus and 1 leg in the grave.
I still pronounce this brand in my native Danish where the name mean Harbour, i refuse to use the accepted HaVen,,,,, which in Danish mean Garden / the garden.
Looking forward to retire my threadripper power hog.
My only let down, there is a window, i would have preferred a plain side,,,,, as i am a adult with nothing to prove to anyone.

Im curious as to whether running the front fans with the air flow pulling out of the case wwould work well with this case. My current case is under a desk and I have it set up that way so it sucks air from under the desk and blows it out the font. I can open my ganme room door and have the air vent out of the room this way too, and my wond is on the other side of the room, so it works well. Im looking to downsize the older case and get somethign with larger fans that can potentially run slower and more quietly than what I have now.

I have this case (the black one) and I have zero regrets the quality is excellent. I also got 2 more 180s on top. It's like air conditioner Also mine came with extra splitters for the fans. If I would buy it again if I had the chance 10/10 I will. I wanted a full air case so I got the noctua chrome for my CPU I wanted a stealth build I couldn't be happier lots of room to work and the results. Easiest case I've worked with in many years. EDIT: My case had no fit and finish issues at all.

I'm using the Fractal basically since day 1. I'm very satisfied so far, amazing air flow, reliable dust catch, however, I have to mention that the fans caused some vibration which used to come and go randomly for months. One day it kinda fixed itself. Not sure if they ever fixed it or if other customers experienced this too, but they offered me a free replacement which was a fair offer. I didn't replace it though as I wasn't motivated enough to do the build again.

I would love to get my hands on this case, however atleast it germany it got delayed 3 times already with a new approcimated date of 20/11/2025.
Really disappointed and thinking about ordering a Fractal Torrent or Meshify 2 instead. Because all my parts are collecting dust while i wait and I'm not sure if it gets delayed into December.
HAVN global ghosted me and Caseking said it's supposendly HAVN fault and they also have no clue what's going on.

For the fan testing, I would say the most valuable piece of data you can give is noise normalized performance as well as say 50% speed performance, because different designs will perform different at different rpms. Fan A might perform better than fan B at 1500rpm, but both at 900rpm might perform the same. If fan B cost half of fan A, and most people run their fans at lower speeds, then why spend the money for fan A

Still waiting for a fan maker to use stator vanes to straighten flow and improve pressure ratio, rather just bigger motor and thicker blades.
Then again maybe the induced swirl of a plain fan is helping energize the boundary layer to improve cooling of passive board components. Though I would think improved pressure [potential velocity] combined with ducting to focus flow at components would be even better.

Would suggest using dry ice in a large beaker with rubbing alcohol instead of utilizing a smoke machine. It is much cleaner & the evaporated CO2 is a heavier molecule. Meaning a improved visual representation of airflow. In the triangle many groceries store carry dry ice cheaply(often buy from HT). Beakers can be purchased online. Should be made from borosilicate glass & heavy walled for this application. Cheers

Honestly, to me it's another of those big ATX cases that just feels anachronistic in 2025.
It's gigantic while offering no room for 3.5 drives, wastes so much space that's just completely empty because it's still using a layout from a time when we had 5.25 bays and it's expensive.
180mm fans also offer little benefit over more standard sizes which are cheaper and easy to replace if something goes wrong.

I believe using a burning substance is better for fog/smoke, because it's lighter, it looks better, and won't leave residue.
I would just have an air cleaner, some type of portable air filter, nearby and leave it running in the room for a little while after testing is completed.
Encountering a tiny bit of smoke is no worse than walking by a camp fire or something, not that big of a deal.

Only having glass side panel is a miss IMO
I understand than the majority might want or prefer glass to showcase the build, but from my point of view, lights or reflections only distract from what I'm doing. Not only that but my case has the internals facing a wall.
At least an optional solid side panel for those who want it, and ideally a SKU with solid side panel.

You should start adding some tests for noise at idle (at least for the cases that comes with full sets of fans).
Most people dont mind some noise when gaming (cpu and gpu coolers are gonna be louder probably, plus 99% of people use headphones anyway) but hate noise when browsing or working, especially if it's the fans' motor itself being noisy and not just air noise

21:29 instead of a fog machine to avoid the residue, I've used a little sawdust shook up in a big bag opened near the intake and a laser level aimed to refract in the case to visualize airflow. i can gently blow it down with a compressor when done and don't have to clean up that gross glycol vape residue. not perfect, but at least the parts don't get sticky

I'm really looking forward to the fan test results. It's really good to get one big dataset where all fans were tested with the same setup. That way we can at least get some kind of base of comparison without having to convert between airflow units, and more importantly, without having to worry about inaccurate claims from manufacturers.

I have a pc build that had the case fans mounted at the top and the AIO mounted at the front and the fans at the top make the worst noise at full load it is horrendous. My wife has the same pc build but the guys that built that one put the AIO at the top and the fans at the front and all you get from hers is the waft of air at high load

Love my Fractal Torrent. I have two Silverstone 180mm fans with a EK WE360 radiator at the bottom, along with the two 180mm Fractal fans at the front. GPU and CPU dont pass 60c even in BF6. Before the Torrent, I had the two Silverstone 180mm fans modded into the front of a Meshify C. Love to see more 180mm fan cases come to market.
