Top 5 HD Antennas Sukses, Drilltop, GE, and more I wish someone other than the AntennaguyPA would call out the blatant lies these antennas promote. Im an electrical engineer that is also an amateur radio operator, not an expert, but not nearly as gullible as the promoters of this equipment wishes. First, antennas receive RF signals, not pictures. The device connected to the antenna deciphers what is sent. All that the antenna can do is provide the strongest signal possible. The antenna hasnt changed since the 1950s, nor has the physics behind them, so 1080, HD, 4K, or whatever is nothing but marketing, designed to confuse the consumer and trick him into buying something he really doesnt need. Put a paperclip in the coax receptacle at the back of the TV and you will get quite a few stations in moderate signal areas. So, does that have to be a 4K, 1080P, HDTV paper clip Nope, a WalMart paperclip will work. What should be on the box is the operating frequency range (Lo VHF, Hi VHF, UHF, FM broadcast, etc.) along with recommended range (Local, suburban, far suburban, or distant) or use the color ranges that some manufacturers use, green, orange, etc.
My 2nd pet peeve and one that anyone who reviews these should be calling out is the range claims. RF travels line of sight at VHF and UHF frequencies, so unless you have a 50 foot tower or live on a hilltop, claiming range greater than 50 to 70 miles is pure fantasy. I love to see one of these 200 mile radius antennas show just one example of that performance. All of these antennas are inside antennas, probably 20 feet above grade maximum if they are in an upstairs room, and will be doing well to get 50 miles. Line of sight in most areas is 70 miles max, unless the source is on an unusually high antenna. You need to call out these deceptive claims, or you are just propagating the deception, not providing a service. You come across very credible and intelligent, use that to benefit the masses. You do good work, step it up a bit and you will be doing a great service.
BTW, anyone who buys an indoor antenna and expects over 50 mile reception is living in a fantasy. There is one rule of antennas, the more surface area and the greater mounting height, the better the performance. A piece of plastic mounted in a window does not have either of these qualities, it is barely better than the paper clip.
The last comment, ATSB 3.0 compatible Seriously Is it downward compatible Can it receive reruns of the 3 stooges COME ON, your BS detector should be selfdestructing on that one. Show me a piece of electronics that goes in the RF stream that detects or decodes the encoding of the signal. ATSB 3.0 is still in the same frequency bands as ATSB 1.0. If a paper clip can receive it, the claim is nothing but deception. Oh, I need to wait to buy an ATSB 3.0 antenna! Get real, debunk this crap.\r\n

HD is a marketing ploy about antennas. There is NO SUCH THING! Ultimately, all it does is pick up signals...there is no magic to them. The HD is whether the signal carries Digital or Analog information on a wave (hence the term carrier wave). If there is any HD magic it is in the tuner and subsequent hardware. NOT the antenna. What IS magic is how the design PICKS UP THE WAVE. Some antennas pick up VHF better and some pick up UHF better. Not enough time to explain the difference... I'm not Antenna Man.

Omg I remember being a kid my gram gave me her old little tv for my room. It had metal antenna on it was black and white and had the dial that you turn. Kinda wish I had one now lol
I love old antiques, as I call them lol
Cast iron stove lamp my gram has, love it. Old typewriters before they became electric, then I remember when the first electric one came out my grandpa had it.
Plugged it into the wall and type type type type lol

If you are going to honestly rate tv antennas you need to take the time to put yourself In a situation where the broadcast towers are 200 miles away and test the products in that situation. Then you have something to talk about and advise. Not to mention trees and mountains. Because when I searched antennas In that criteria I have the junk antenna you have mentioned. Loss of signal more than not.

I know you made this clear in another video that you know there is no such thing as an HD antenna and you are only using the term because that is what they use, but please stop promoting this misleading marketing information yourself by referring to them as HD Antennas. Just call them TV Antennas or OTA Antennas.

The problem I have is I cannot get ABC and PBS with my antenna. Those are on VHF and I am able to receive all others on UHF. I have 3 of the same kind that is very similar to the rectangle shaped antenna (2nd antenna in your video).
Were you able to receive VHF stations with the first antenna Thank you

1st one is under $20 Right now. Crazy. Bought one just for my Sony A80J that Support the new ATSC 3.0 Standard that supports 4K and HDR and Dolby Atmos over the Air. Steam 95% of my content but this would help if internet goes down for any reason. With Comcast that can happen.

So my neighbor who is 60 has decided to cut the cord her biggest complaint is she can't get ION or MyTV on her new Sling app. This would be the answer to her prayers . Thank you for the video and I won't bring up your the best antenna on the market ... Your spoon !!

isn’t atsc 3.0 more on the digital tuner on the tv than the antenna I thought any antenna can support digital including atsc 3.0 but for atsc 3.0 you will need either a tv or digital tuner box to translate the signal.

I bought a 9 ft Chanal Master and could get 3 cities Baltimore DC and Manassas VA at 1080. You do not know about how signals are transmitted an RF signal is an RF signal An HD Antenna is the same as snake oil

How far are you from the transmitter towers Those antenna's your rating don't have much range. For further range I would suggest Mohu Leaf Supreme Pro Indoor Antenna or the Clearstream Max

Just recently cut the cable TV out of our lives. Still use cable speed internet through Comcast. Basically dropped TV and upgraded to the fastest internet available.

I bet the guy doing this video doesn't know jack squat about antennas, VHF and UHF are the only ones, anyone who tells you different is a snake oil salesman.

I've seen one of these antenna's saying it can go 320 miles 360 degrees. I was wondering if this was possible Maybe test one of these out in the future
