Apple TV 4K vs. Amazon Fire Stick 4K 4K Streaming Battle
video description
Fast forward to us buying our new 4K TV and using or Fire Stick (non 4K). There’s still some issues with load times. It takes FOREVER! This is why I’m considering buying an Apple TV 4K or an Amazon Fire TV 4K, as I’m under the assumption the processors are faster (please correct me if I’m wrong) and they apparently load third party apps with ease. I stopped using Kodi Leia because the load times for movies was atrocious. I switched to Cinema HD which seemed to work a little better, but again, on an old 2008 Vizio 55 the load times and quality of movies sucked! My goal here is to get a device that has fast processors, loads movies from third party apps FAST, and shows movies even faster!
Can you please help me out in my decision making Thank you to all who may take time out of their busy day to reply.\r\n

I have had a number of fire sticks dating all the way to when they first came out...I have to replace them about every year and a half to two years. I also have one apply TV box from when they first came out. I have had to replace the firesticks over 4 times now... They start slowing with age (They don't have the necessary hardware updates to keep up with the streaming going on I am assuming). We still have the original Apple TV box and it is still going strong. We did not load all that extra stuff or jailbreak the fire sticks. The main issues I have had with the sticks is buffering, a ton of lag, the sound cuts in and out (also due to buffering/glitching) or wrost of all they just quick responding all together. Hands down spend the extra for the apple TV so you don't have to keep replacing the sticks. You will end up spending far more in the end. We did this to save money and so far we haven't saved anything.

Feed the kids if you buying either of these you obviously have a 4K tv so splurging another $100 you can still feed the kids also remember your not buying a newer version every couple of months I’ve got an Apple 4K also the non 4K 2nd gen tv I do love the Apple for the simple fact I like to have everything I watch in one place also the easy to use the Apple remote is tricky but using Siri fixes that issue plus all the tricks and little things you can do with the Apple TV is AWSOME watching a movie miss or couldn’t understand what they said tap the microphone ask Siri what was said she will back up a few seconds and play again with subtitles on if movie has them until your back to where you asked Siri to go back subtitles turn back off and movie plays like it was but Apple is definitely worth it

If your are an android person then I wouldn’t recommend the Apple TV, and just get the fire stick, since you won’t see many of the benefits.
We are an Apple family and had all our digital movies collected over the years stored in iTunes as well as pictures and songs etc. Apple TV allowed us to view all of these very easily. You could get both for around $200 if needed as well, which we do.
With Firestick, you really need to have amazon prime to benefit the most out of it. You can access iTunes movies purchased through firestick as well. I do like some of the movie & TV apps available on fire stick and not on Apple.
If price is the issue and you just need a basic streaming service, start with firestick then add Apple TV later if needed.

Also : AppleTV is also an hub for your HomeKit devices. No need to buy an Wifi Hub as for the Firestick (Alexa). AppleTV is also a gaming system, Airplay for mirroring etc. If you don't like the remote, Apple has an app remote to interact with the ATV. More easy to type with the app. To better compare the difference of prices between the 2, you must also compare the difference of RAM, storage, CPU inside. My AppleTV 4K is a lot more faster and stable than my Firestick 4K. Finally, the interface. You can group apps in folders et arrange the apps as you wish. Not so good in Firestick.

I use an Apple tv (4th gen-64gb) and my parents use a Firestick back in India. Apple tv is great. Polished user-interface and Siri functionality ( you need to use a US apple id to get this functionality) . Everything is chic, classy, and polished with Apple tv. And also those motion-sensing games you can play on Apple tv. Firestick just works and it may not be as sophisticated as Apple TV but is great for that price point. So, if you can spend more, buy Apple tv. If not, firestick.

Not 4K, but I have both in two different rooms. While the Apple TV TV feature he refers to is handy, in the end, I prefer Amazon. Ultimately it’s because of that dang Apple TV remote. It’s slick and slippery and impossible for me to pick up without inadvertently touching something that messes up whatever is on my screen. Not to mention that in a poorly lit room, which is common when watching TV, it’s not intuitive which end is up as the buttons are all centered within the device.

I have both. I was trying to watch the US Open Tennis and NHL playoffs on the TV with the Amazon FS4K. I was so frustrated with the jitters that I called my internet provider to complain. I then tried watching sports on the TV with Apple TV. What a difference. It's nice to have apps but from a pure performance perspective Apple TV has my vote. I'm now looking at replacing the AFS4K with another Apple TV. My kids will survive! They can eat Kraft Dinner for a month.

Watching this from 2022...great video! It's all about what you prefer, company wise. If you are an Apple user, and have several products from Apple, then the Apple TV is definitely the way to go. But if you have Amazon products such as the Echo Dot, or other Alexa devices, then the Fire Stick is the way to go. Would've liked a little more information about why to choose the Fire Stick over the Apple TV, other than the much cheaper price. Outstanding job!!!

Im Apple centric BUT dont use iTunes at all...in fact I stream all my own media ripped to a NAS lossless and whilst some Wifi is good enough...not everyone has bullet proof wifi to allow streaming bitrate this high......
That said, IF using just the major streamers and your Wifi is good....then the firestick is great....that said if you have a recently released TV the built in apps on there will probably be good enough as well

As expensive as the Apple TVs are, I have to say that its’ interface is light years ahead of the old, clunky Roku interface in sophistication. It’s also less cluttered and far more customizable than amazon fire tv. If I’m going to spend a bunch of money on a high end 4K hdr tv,what’s 200 bucks more The fact that the Apple TV interface is so much more closer to a computer than the competition makes it worth it.

I have a hacked 4K firestick but I REALLY want the Apple TV. I primarily use IMBD tv for watching tv series’ for free and I’m not sure that’s an option on Apple TV. For instance, when I search for little house on the prairie on my Apple TV app on my iPhone, it wants me to pay $3 per episode...there are 8 seasons of that show with at least 20 episodes per season it’s from the 70s for Pete’s sake! It SHOULD be free.

Apple will always be EXCELLENT....however, the stick is crap. Fraudsters around me utilize it to steal others identity. I've just figured that out....after a year of navigating through a nightmare of a group of criminals even getting my government monies redirected. And unfortunately for them, this time around...I will participate in any investigation proving their wrongdoing. BonnieJBelhumeur August13,2022

Man, I caught that Amazon 4k on one of those sales for 1/2 price. I couldn't pass up the deal. The Apple 4k supports Dolby Atmos and that interest me. Also, Apple TV can be used to connect a smart bike trainer and other accessories seamlessly to a TV and use Zwift for riding and training indoors, so for cyclists there are multiple uses and not just limited to watching movies.

yes apple tv is ok if you can afford to get an apple tv every 2 to 3 years because once there out of date it starts to bug out and errors occur due to the generation updates not updating because apple wants you to buy a new apple tv. if im a millionair ill stick to apple but for the time being ill use the firestick.

The reason I switched to amazon Firestick despite being heavily into the Apple ecosystem. I live overseas, I can boot up a vpn to it easily and the Apple TV app is on it, so I can still use and access my immense iTunes library but all from one device.

I have both of the 4K stream devices, but I just can't choose which one's better, but I'm going to have to pick with Amazon fire TV stick, because maybe it's just a slightly tad bit more accurate with show series, movie films, and subscriptions

One issue you did not cover is the resell value of the product. I typically use my Apple products for two to three years and resell them for a good price. This reduces the gap in the cost of using between these two devices quite a lot

With the fire stick is not only about paying for the device, if I’m not mistaken you have to be prime member I know you have to link with your Amazon account I’m just not sure if it necessarily has to be prime or not

Fire stick is trash. Has the issue where it won’t let you use your wifi if it’s not 2.4 and they refuse to fix it. Also won’t let me leave a review.

Warranty is a consideration. My $50 fire stick died after 4 months. Warranty was only 3 months. Spent 30 minutes on the phone with Amazon and no luck.
