Is PLEX the All-time Best Free Streaming Service You can MAKE it your last streaming app if you get a pass or lifetime one and save yourself some money ..I tried it out for about three weeks and took the dive for the lifetime pass and dont regret it. As far as ease without any hassles Id say this is the way to go. The only minor gripes are when movies or shows arent recognized however you can easily fix that by renaming the folders to something that is listed in tvdb or getting one of those helpful tv renaming apps for PC or Mac .. extremely useful. The only other gripe Id say more has to deal with Internet providers .. Xfinity treats streaming like a correctional facility these days especially with their security and unfortunately where I live has limited options for Internet providers...steer clear of them unless you want to risk your remote access having issues at some point. Other than that the other excellent thing that Plex does is there is a Plexamp app for those with the Plex pass to listen to music...for audiophiles some may be like...well its less than perfect but for 99 percent of people you get to listen to Flac!!!! And trust me...even on a phone without a super good DAC you will notice the bump in quality vs other music streaming services out there (unless you plunk down serious money for a monthly payment with tidal hifi). Theres many customizable options and you can share movies, shows and music with friends and family. My Plex is arguably better than most streaming services offer...but its all tailored to your tastes...hope this helps.\r\n

I tried PLEX but couldn't stand it. It wants to do what it wants, not what I want. I have a computer with content and for years have been using DLNA to stream to my stereos and TVs. I have been in the computer business for decades and know how to organize my content. What I do, and this is amazing technology, is I use appropriately named files in sensibly named folders. I know where everything is and can find it because I named it and put it there. But I haven't figured out a way for PLEX to browse folders. If I want to use PLEX I have to have it index all of my content and then go through its selection method. But I don't want PLEX screens of photos I have to endlessly scroll through. I want the option to select from a vertical list of folders. I don't want to ever see stuff PLEX wants me to watch or listen to.
We don't have cable where we live so we don't get normal Internet like most people. We have to hotspot a cellphone to get Internet. We don't want things like PLEX using up our limited gigabytes. But PLEX wants to use the Internet to force feed us the streaming content it likes but we don't want. PLEX does a very poor job if all you want to do is stream off a local computer. PLEX might have advanced video conversion technology, but it can't even do the basic functionality of a decade old DLNA freeware utility.

Wow you missed 60% of Plex! That TV DVR thing is the major part of Plex. Get a real antenna and it is super. Record the major networks to plex and have it skip commercials from the recording and watch it when you want. The news is 50% commercials so a half hour news will be 15 minutes and you don't need to skip the commercials like the normal DVR because they aren't recorded. It is a cat and mouse with the networks so some commercial get recorded but then you can skip them. I have two 24 hour movie stations so I select browse movies and schedule recordings of any interesting movies scheduled for the next two weeks again WITHOUT commercials. I have hundreds of movies categorized by action, drama, syfi, etc. I have all 14,000 of my photos again categorized so I can find them and they are available on all my TVs and Cell phone anywhere. You missed most of Plex.

Worst streaming app in my opinion I've had it for 4 days and I've had nothing but trouble with it my tv episodes don't auto play even tho it's on when watching my favorite anime show the subtitles keep coming on even tho I turn then off then say if I'm watching say season 2 and episode 5 of a season when I stop watching it and go back the next day I click on continue watching ans it's random goes back to season 1 part way through and so many movies just start randomly buffering while watching then it will exit remove it's self from continue watching then the movie won't work again I can't believe I paid for this horrendous peice of trash

Hi, I am trying to stream movie from desktop windows app to LG C1 webOs TV and it is working just fine, but if I select my speakers as audio device from the list, audio does not switch to speakers but keeps running trough TV speakers.
I am wondering if this option is available when streaming Switching audio devices works if I play movie directly to PC.
Thank you.

Unless you buy Get use to 8 mins of programming and 1:30 secs of ads( during the movie) then it advances to 10 mins of programming and 2:30 secs of ads ( during the same movie ). I'm sure there are good things about plex but ........ As usual , where's the free Yeah I know , nothing actually free. I'll just stick to cable , Netflix and Pluto.

Ads ARRRHHH watched my first movie the other day and bam an ad popped up every time a important part of the movie was playing and there was a lot of them. So if you hate ads as much as I do be prepared. otherwise this has some great content. Oh if there is a way to stop ads please let me know did a quick search and not much there

Ok, this bothers me so much.
If i put a show on my tv with cable and then put plex live tv on another tv.
Thay are NOT showing the same thing so how is that live tv... I think alot of people are missing the point when some asks for live tv... i haven't seen a platform yet that shows live tv like my cable box. Prove me wrong...

I really like the fact that you can find which streaming services all the films and Tv Shows you want to watch are available on, and that you can keep track of where you are in a TV series. To me this seems like a combination of Just Watch app and a free streaming service, which is cool.

The premium version of Plex allows you to watch live over the air TV using the Plex stream around your home to different devices. Is it possible to watch a live over the air TV program using your Plex server and a playback device at a distant location, in another state

I like Plex I finally found the old television show kung fuwould David carradine. My biggest complaint is the ads keep freezing not the show, just the ads. The first ad will freeze up for almost five minutes when I see I have eight more to go I just turn it off.

Watching a movie on plex via firestick and it felt like I was watching ads with a movie in between. 5 ads per break, and the breaks are very often. Way worse than watching regular tv. I guess it a good service if you pay premium, otherwise no thanks

I've been hearing about this app with most of the tech I've recently bought late last year the Nvidia Shield 2021, the Beelink GT King and the Beelink Sei8 mini PC.. now just to work out how I'm gonna network all of them
reply

Bro, what is plex for android activation
Is this applicable for Firestick too
Plex for Firestick activation Is anything like that
So we can't watch our stuffs in firetv unless we activate the plex

reply

Thanks! Doesn't it also let you search content in all the premium payed services and let you make watch-list And to see what is trending on across all services Guess I could just install it and find out
reply

So does premium remove ads I assume not since you didn’t mention it. Might like for DVR capability, but, that’s all I’d use it for if you can’t get rid of ads.
reply

no, because most of it's features are kept behind a arbitrary pay wall. jellyfin does almost everything plex does, free of charge, and its completely open source.

Don't get me wrong I've been loving Plex but I'm tired of the 4k buffering on my Fire Cube. Network isn't an issue so I don't understand what is going on
reply

I have a Fire TV, I installed the Plex App. It sees my home Media Server but it gives me an error when trying to play any videos . Any suggestions
reply

So with premium services I can watch others content on their servers Do I have to set up my own server Is there UHD content with hdr dv and Atmos
reply

As always, really nice video. One thing I am not sure is if Plex does provide access to your private collection of media over the Internet
reply

Love the network but ya’ all need to DUMP the Science Moms! Leftist selling climate change propaganda & BS at nauseam lengths is way annoying!
reply

I tried a few things on my Nas before Plex but Plex just worked so much better, quicker and simpler than my other attempts. Love it.
reply

Sine using a variety of streaming services, I got nothing on a driver really. So I wouldn't benefit that much from it, I guess.

Who actually has the time and patience to buy physical media and rip it This was a good overview, but this platform is a hard pass for me.
reply

Hi can u suggest me a good plex media player. Or can I customize a higher end pc with high volume of HDD and install plex sw
reply

why would people want to add their own content server to plex...if they already own the content at home Plz help me understand this
reply

I prefer Kodi with Real Debrid to get the latest and greatest. I don't have to rip anything and I can watch everything at any time.
reply

Tried Plex, but videos does not show on my PC, I can hear only the sound. Could not find a fix on their website.
