Video suggestion: smooth transition from in focus to soft focus. There are times where I want a person - the subject, at the front of the picture, to be in focus, but have the furniture behind the person slightly out of focus, and the wall behind the furniture further out of focus. This isn't just a matter of layering for each distance, because the subject is next to a _wall_ that runs smoothly from the subject in the front to the wall in the back. How do you make a smooth transition? (Actually, as I type this, I'm wondering if a third mask for the wall with a gradient fill might do the trick. But I'll ask anyway! And hope there's an easier way)

Hi Unmesh - Your tutorials are absolutely fabulous. You're a born teacher. I know that you sometimes ask what people are interested in. How about a series of composites where you have to apply the full range of techniques that you have been teaching? That way you can put it all together: selections, masking, cloning, color correction, introducing shadows, selective edits, combining images, smart filters, etc. in a series of projects, starting from simple to increasingly complex (maybe we could call it UnDin University. You could also refer back to prior videos for supporting explanations of individual topics.

Hi Unmesh. I wonder if you can help me. I was following your tutorial with applying filters t o smart object. I could not use some the filters they were greyed out. I found out that they dont work for 16 bit format images. Can you explain if I need to work with 8 bit or 16, bit, are there any major differences? Also I downloaded your support image which came as an. RAR file which I dont seem to be able to open?

Unmesh, thanks for all your videos! May be you can help me!
I'm coming from Affinity photo where ALL the filters have their own masks. In photoshop i have only one mask for all the filters! Do you know how to get a separate mask for each filter we create? Many thanks for your reply.

Great video. In PS 2020, is it better to group all layers before applying filters in a non destructive way, or is it still the best option to copy all of the layers into a new top layer?

can you have a separate mask for each filter?
i can create a new merged layer and apply the filter to that and have the masking option for each filter.
