Get 20% off your first custom True Nutrition blend: [Code: MONSTER] The best proteins for building muscle aren't the ones with the most protein per serving. They're not even the ones with the best amino acid profile. The best proteins for men over 40 are the ones that score highest across four specific criteria, and most lists aren't even measuring three of them. The reality is, after 40, things change. Anabolic resistance sets in, meaning your body doesn't respond to protein the same way it did at 25. You need more of it, and you need it to be higher quality, just to trigger the same muscle-building response. Recovery slows down. Inflammation accumulates. And testosterone is on a gradual decline. That means every food choice is either working with your biology or against it so why wouldn't you stack every advantage you can That's what this list is. I scored protein sources across four criteria. Protein density, bioavailability and amino acid quality, practicality, and what I call biological fit, which takes into account things like anti-inflammatory properties, hormone support, and digestive tolerance. And in this video, I'm giving you the top 10 protein foods you should be eating more of for muscle growth after 40. My book Muscle After 40 is now available for pre-order! Yeah, I ain't eating any fish, cottage cheese, or pork tenderloin. The only way I'm eating turkey breast is if it's deli meat with no nitrates or preservatives. Same thing with pork; I eat plenty of uncured deli ham with no nitrates or preservatives. Idc if it has a lot of sodium; I'm in the sauna a few nights a week and do a couple runs every week at least. I sweat enough that extra sodium ain't gonna hurt me.
I'm 44 years old, 5 foot 9, and a very muscular 190 pounds. I regularly eat egga, greek yogurt, ground beef, good deli meat, protein pancakes, peanut butter, and drink a ton of ultra-filtered milks. I don't really make protein shakes anymore, but I always add extra whey powder to my protein pancakes. I don't eat any fish really, except breaded white fish I cook in my air fryer sometimes. I take an omega 3 supplement daily,
I think ultra-filtered milk should have been on this list. I generally drink whole milk and chocolate milk, but sometimes go to 2%, then 1%, then fat free when I'm cutting. Ultra-filtered fat free milk has 80 calories, 6g carbs/0 added sugar, and 13g of protein per cup. That's pretty damn good. The Byrne Dairy 2% chocolate milk I get has 140 calories amd 14g of protein and 6g of added sugar per cup. It's the best thing you can have right after a lifting session.

you lost ALL credibility at 7. telling people to eat absolute Garbage! im not sure how much protein pork has but i know its a GREAT way to get parasites! but im sure you know that, which is why you said that you rarely eat it yourself! 1 LOL you couldve put anything on this list at #7 like Ground Bison or Nutritional yeast or quinua or sardines, etc. SMH

This is a fantastic video and your food recommendations are on point. However, I have one big issue: Protein density should be compared using grams of protein per 100 calories instead of protein per 100g of food because 100g of a food can range anywhere from 400-900 calories depending on the fat content.

make sure you cook your eggs fully. Do your research. Also In general, healthy animal fats support brain function, hormone production, cell health, vitamin absorption, energy, nerve function, immune function, and protection of organs. eat clean no fake food processed garbage. Your body will thank you

I was killing cottage cheese for a bit, and then a video made me realize the ingredients list is actually kinda crazy.
It’s full of fillers stabilizers and gums. Too much for my liking. I stopped eating it.

Eat chicken breast with a high Omega 3 and Creatine supplement. Don’t make it too complicated. Hell throw some eggs in with the chicken and you get it all by only eating 2 of these.

How about sardines Every other day, I eat a can of sardines in extra-virgin olive oil. I could be wrong, but I believe they supply more nutrients in every way more so than tuna Great list!

Not big on cottage cheese but I use all the others and I’ll add chicken gizzards as one of my favorites. Almost the same protein ratio as the breast but better nutrition overall

Thanks for this BUT. I am amazed that modern nutritionists always avoid and ignore one of the best sources of energy that's available. MEAT FAT. DO NOT AVOID THE FAT
