If you want to build well-rounded delts, there are two things that have to happen: For starters, you-ve got to understand the anatomy and physiology of the shoulders. Once you understand what muscles are involved and, more importantly, what function they-re responsible for, choosing the right exercises and how to perform them more effectively becomes obvious. Second, once you-ve chosen what exercises you-ll be performing, focus on progression. If you-re performing the right exercises using proper form and gradually increasing the load (i. e. increasing reps without sacrificing weight or increasing weight without sacrificing reps, your shoulders will grow. In this video I want to, briefly, go over the basic anatomy of the deltoids and their functions, and then I want to go over what is, in my opinion, the perfect science based shoulder workout for mass. Shoulder Workout for Mass: Day 1: Shoulders - Strength OHP 5x5 Wide-Grip Upright Row 3x8 Lateral Raise 3x8-10 Reverse Pec Deck 4x10-12 Day 2: Shoulders - Hypertrophy Seated DB Press 3x10 Egyptian Cable Lateral Raise 3x10-12 Rear Delt Cable Pull 4x15

I really like the consistent way you present all of your videos. You get the big picture in building muscle and proper technique in achieving the goal. I am 68 yoa and have been at it since age 13. Proper exercise, technique coupled with proper nutrition keeps you in the game!

Every physical therapist and trainer I've ever spoken to or read, say that upright rows(as well as behind the neck presses) are potentially dangerous for the shoulder area, even if done correctly.

Great video, but I have a question: how can you include this in an upper/ lower split? For exemple day 1 has 15 sets, and you still have to work your back, chest and arms.
reply

No upright rows, of any form variation, ever. No matter what, shoulder impingement is required to perform this movement. Don't try to vary it, replace it.

sorry - he may know his stuff - mind you most of us do BUT he has the most boring voice. switched off before is really got to the main part

Who is the guy playing -Alpha- in your videos? Classic! Is the person doing the voice over the dude with the beard and doing the real movement?
reply

Just getting strong at on one arm dumbbell press and military prees with some rear delt work and i am seeing are real gains on my shoulder

The rear delt cable pull eliminates the lats? I beg to differ. That movement pattern is exactly the same as in the lat cable pushdown.

What do Day1 & Day2 mean? Aren't we supposed to let the muscles rest for 2 days? Also, how do I incorporate these in my PPL flow?
