Go to to try out nightly defense for just $5. It-s free to chat with the doctor, and your first order is just $5. That-s (Eligibility requirements and additional terms apply) Need bigger quads? I figured it was time to call out the reason why most people don't have bigger legs. It's not genetics, it comes down to how much you're willing to go through to get those things the size of tree trunks

I pushed so hard on leg day a few days ago I was walking funny for a while afterwards. For the first half hour after, when I would step a certain way, it would feel like my legs were about to give out. They've been sore for two days now.
I worked out for a year and half several years back and got in decent shape, but never where I wanted to. I never pushed quite hard enough though. I just started working out again less than 3 months ago and I've already made almost as much progress as I did in over a year last time. My chest and arms are actually already bigger than before. I push to failure constantly now, and will even do 6 or more sets to failure with 1 minute, or 1. 5 minutes rests between.
I must say though, pushing the legs to failure has some sort of extra pain and struggle to it. Nothing requires more will power and determination from me than pushing my legs to failure. When they feel weak and about to give up, I keep being able to get one more rep, and then another, and another! And I'm just begging them to please give up! It hurts!

Lifting from home has changed something about my leg workouts. I'm using less weight on my backsquats because I don't have a rack, so the amount of weight on the bar is dictated by how much I can clean and press--- which is about 155. So I've been doing some 20 rep squat sets and now there's no fear of public gym failure because I'm using bumper plates and can just dump the barbell behind me. The leg workouts have been some of the best ever, with me pushing past 20 reps sometimes to see how far I can get. Same thing with power cleans and squat cleans. more progress is being made because I'm not afraid of missing lifts.

I have been training for a little over 20 years. Never anything crazy. I work in construction and put in 12 hours a day for 26 days out of 30 in a month.
I am an avid You Tube -er for years. Like, I-m that guy that says google or You Tube it after anyone asks a question they don-t know the answer too.
My point!
This is my very first comment on anything publicly ever!
Because this is by far the best trainer and videos I-ve watched ever!
Love the humour, and love the education.
Keep up the awesome work! I-ve shared the -uck out of your videos!

Ryan -- here's an idea -- just demonstrate a few more of those exercises slowly in 3-4 mins. You're getting too sidetracked by monologue and adverts. If you need money, then message me in private. You have personality and humor which means you're not a robot -- your followers feel like they know you. Love yourself -- you're racing a bit. BREATHE. Yes, my commentary suggested that you grow your calves only to perfect yourself more, but maybe it won't happen and that's ok -- keep in mind that you are already Michelangelo's DAVID.

can you do a video on how to use the smith machine correctly for squats. I have always tried to squat like it was a free weight squat, trying to position the weight between my mid foot and heel, however, I am not sure that is the correct approach for the Smith Machine. Also, the side support bars are angled, which I am sure for a reason, can you explain why and how to utilized that angle for better results. Thanks in advance!

My son and I have been following Ryan and trying stuff out. We pieced together a killer leg day.
3x15 with middle of the road weight and keeping tension on the quad
Reverse Pyramid 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1 until failure and then back down the ladder 1, 1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
We finish with 3x10 of the really slow sets. Only have been able to get 3x6 so far.
Let's just say that the legs finally feel normal one day before leg day.

I thought quads were about diving through the toes. My entire life is a lie. Thanks for this. My quads never hurt after training and they never grow, even though i can barely walk out the gym. Also eating 2. 2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight a day. Gnna try this hack squat trick you showed and do front squats, one legged sqauts and do everything i can to make them grow. If they don't grow this year. Im quitting.

I read that when doing squats, imagine your feet are on a piece of paper towel, and as you are standing up, act as though you are trying to tear the paper towel by splaying your feet outwards. Don't actually move them, but just apply pressure outwards as though you are. I think it does provide you with some extra strength, but my chiropractor said ABSOLUTELY NOT, cos its very unsafe.

Great stuff as always Ryan. What do you got for builders over 50? Can you dive into tips and suggestions for us? I have lifted, been an athlete all my days but even as a lifter, always on the thin side of things. Just my -lucky- genetics. But I'm not done yet. I want to keep banging them out and trying to grow. Love to hear you touch on it. Think about it boss. Cheers
