Keto & intermittent fast for 4-6 weeks. I like an 18-6, two meals, 250-500/day caloric deficit. HIIT, CrossFit, running/rowing/cycling/hiking. Push the electrolytes.
Reintroduce carbohydrates for 3-4 months, reduce fat cal and increase protein cal. Lift more. This is the lean bulk phase. Have that pizza & beer, just don't have six. Earn it in the gym.
Repeat. Remember: rest & recovery should be a constant focus throughout, too often given short shrift. Also exercise the mind, stay active and engaged so boredom hunger doesn't have a chance. Plan, prepare, execute!
Works well for me and is sustainable for a lifetime.

I'm new to working on myself as I have always been a bit overweight. I started at 228 Lbs and I'm 6 foot even. I have been going to the gym 5 days a week for an hour with my wife and only doing a calorie deficit diet. Just plugged my age/weight/height/etc into a calorie calculator and decided to go a few 100 calories below the target goal. I have managed to get to 214 Lbs in 3 weeks. Just wanted to ask if you feel this diet is something sustainable to keep on muscle while losing the fat. I also incorporate Whey protein in my diet as I heard it was something good to burn through fat faster.

So when you said throw out all the junk you DIDN'T mean to throw out those half human parasites (some call children) with all the bad foods? Missed opportunity there.
I tend to tell people not to throw it out, I HATE waste even when its junk food, better to throw a little party or give it to someone else preferably someone you don't really like that much like that one uncle who you'd all be better off if they just happened to have an extra heart attack to two.

I have done OMAD, Keto, and IF. I did IF with Keto OMAD and lost 75 lb. it was nuts, I got back into the same pants I had in Highschool, well the ones that aren-t married with kids now lol. I ate half a bag of flamin hot Cheetos while I watched this, because I-m a lazy slob, and it-s cheat month. I-m depressed because hunting season is over. I will finish this bag though because then I don-t have to eat it tomorrow too.

Me and my friends (NPC & IFBB winners) all do high, low, low - and it is easy. The low days can be a bit rough sometimes, but then you get that reward day. None of us eat sugar or food with more than one ingredient either, and no one I know (that competes) misses any of it. As far as other diets go, large meals give you a large stomach- so you won-t be winning any men-s physique trophies.

Don't forget the PED's cocktail that Ryan uses to look as he does year-round. You can eat beans and pizza and make up your workouts as you go and still make gains while getting shredded if you're on the right stuff. When are folks going to stop being suckered in by Ytube snake-oil fitness coaches who don't tell them the whole truth?

Welp. I'm 10% body fat year around with a six pack and popping veins, and I eat a loaf of wholemeal bread I make almost everyday. And before people harp about genetics, I used to be very obese. Genetics at best have a very small effect, it's just an excuse people with no discipline like to use to blame something other than themselves.

Whats been working for me is switching my bedtime snack from 2 slices of bread with ham and cheese and a protein Shake mixed with milk, to 1 apple and a protein shake mixed with water instead. And also introducing moderate intensity cardio for 35 min 3x a week at the end of strength workouts. Down 10kg in about 3 months now.
