Lying Leg Curl - Best Hamstring Exercise?

Lying Leg Curl - Best Hamstring Exercise?

I wanted to make this video to get people to rethink lying leg curls and how they perform them. To me this is one of my favorite pieces of equipment because the pump is insane and there are so many different ways to use it. I just highlighted a few but don't be afraid to try something new out and see if it gets a better result, sometimes you just have to look weird for a few sets as you're trying things out but I guarantee you that if you come back a few days later someone will be doing the exercise they saw you create. I see some value in performing a full range of motion with light dumbbell curls, especially hammer preacher curls. I wouldn't go heavy with it, but the stretch feels great, and the soreness the next day is located in different parts of the bicep and forearm that otherwise wouldn't be so tender. I wouldn't use it all the time, but I do think there's value in it.

I much prefer seated hamstring curls.
You get a better range of motion & a better contraction without interference from the active insufficiency created by the Rectus Femoris being stretched from both its proximal & distal attachment sites.
(Which is what happens when you flex the knee & with the hip extended/near extended.

Dude I have seen like 20 pounds of gains from workouts from your videos, I can't believe you listen to hip hop. What a disappointment. Can't sit here and watch you finger Bang your fart pipe listening to the hibbetty dibbody.

I tried 2 variations so far. Absolutely killer! The movement is very similar to the sitting leg curl machine. The difference for me is Ryan's way also gives a little upper body work which to me is ideal. When you can get extra body parts involved I'm in like a log in a fireplace -

Great stuff Ryan. I've successfully followed your advice and my knees are better now than ever. And I gained proper weight. Anyway, do you have a video where you teach how to safely train your neck? Back and front. I look like a vulture and could use some girth. Cheers - Adam.

Your videos with out the insults are much less educational, and less entertaining.
-Hey Ryan, yes, I am one of those guys that watch your videos while in the bathroom. - I know you didn't need to know that, but I wanted to ruin part of your day.

-- needs so many more views. this is my 3rd time coming back to comment here bc my hamstrings are fookin growing. GOLDEN information from this man. never have felt painful pumps in the hammys till I leaned up and did them. knee on the pad variation is killer as well

Been getting a sharp pain in the back of my left knee. Feels like a tendon snapping across something. Getting too much of a stretch I think. Like you said, wouldn't do that on a bicep curl! Anyone else had this pain? Almost like a clunk.
