Thank you so much for this wonderful information! (I need an advice) In my case, my dad kept on telling my mom to lose weight and even yell at her almost everyday for not losing weight. They're in their 50s already but my dad still lose a lot of weight after avoiding sugar and fatty foods. My mom did the same thing but after a few months, my dad sees the result in him but has no changes at all to my mom. So he started yelling at her a lot saying that she secretly binge eat at home while he's at work. (My mom never compared or get jealous of anything to my dad at all) My mom eat very normally and healthy and she sometimes exercise with me at home, I knew her routine since I have online class at home. (She also has an online business which means she carry a lot of stuff and kept on walking etc) Sometimes she binge eat too because my dad kept scolding her although she ate just fine and avoiding any sweet foods, fatty foods etc. My dad has very strong opinions on everything and idk if this video could convince my dad to stop scolding my mom. His yelling and scolding got so severe that I feel like I had to lose weight too and I sometimes get stressed when I add on weight even though everything is just fine (I'm 16 y/o and weighted 45kg but I swear I'm very stressed even if I add on 1kg because I feel like he's scolding both me and my mom)

Dear Cassey and everyone from the Blogilates community. I am so frustrated right now. Two year ago I was at 138 pounds (I'm 5, 5 and now 26 years old. But then I started waitressing which meant I was on my feet for 8 to 13 hours constantly. And I got my heart broken so I didn't eat much during that time. Without trying I lost 17 pounds in a couple of months. Then I fell in love again and was happy and eating more but still a lot on my feet. A year ago I weighed 119 pounds although I was eating pizza and drinking wine etc.
Now I am back to 135 pounds and I'm only trying to lose 8 pounds. I started working out a month ago 5 times a week and eating really healthy. You know, porridge or dark bread and fruit in the morning and as dinner some healthy fish and salads or soups. It's been a month and I haven't lost a single pound. My jeans don't fit any better than before and I'm consistently staying at 135 pounds. I do feel stronger and more energetic after working out and eating well but it's just upsetting. At this point I don't know what to do differently. I don't want to go down to 1000 calories a day because I know it wouldn't be healthy, mentally or physically.

Hey Cassie. Thank you so much for explaining this difference between men ans women to me. It helps me out so much.
I am on an on and off fitness journey with my partner as well, but my biggest hurdle to overcome is my chronic depression.
I find that I can be eating right, feeling ok, and going to the gym regularly for a while until I get blind-sided by my depression symptoms.
Then not only do I lose any ground I gained, I end up emotionally eating just so I feel well enough to deal with my daily responsibilities. I have a hard time caring about anything let alone going to the gym even though I know it will make me feel better. When I'm in this state even taking ten minute walk with the dog is exhausting.
Do you have any advice to deal with the fatigue and sticking to a diet when you just can't muster the motivation it takes to get moving again?

Yep. My husband have workout for the past month. I have been constantly keeping healthy and walking/running since the start of the pandemic. I have lost 20lbs BUT, just within this past month he has gone up between 50-90lbs) in weights, from bench-press, shoulder press, L-sit etc. And I've gone up about 15lbs on pull-up, 5lbs on bicep/triceps and 10-15lbs on deadlift. I can't even do an L-sit even though I do more ab-workouts.
Main difference I keep forgetting is that during his younger days (14-23) he used to be SUPER ripped, former surfer, in the military and already had the muscles from just being an outdoorsy type of guy. He has lost them, gained about 80lbs since then and just a month ago started working out regularly again, but the muscles knows what to do as it's already been there once while mine are being trained for the first time. It is so hard to remember that and not comparing the results x)

My boyfriend and I live together and while we're both really focused of fitness we take different approaches. I'm more of the eat healthy, workout and if you want that treat at the end of the week, go for it! where as he's more of the, not eating carbs after 3pm, counting calories and no dairy, no gluten, no sugar, no alcohol for every meal. We both cook, but how do I come to terms with this new eating lifestyle that I don't necessarily enjoy. For me counting calories and/or restricting food is a slippery slope, while for him it has no effect. I feel guilty when I eat a small scoop of ice cream or if I'm not constantly talking about weight loss or the gym. Any advice would be really helpful!

Can you talk about weight loss between different ethnicities? I'm an east Asian female, and I notice my goals end up being much lower weight compared to girls of other ethnicities that are the same height. The reason is not trying to be the same weight as that K-pop star but I just need to be a pretty low weight to completely lose double chin or avoid thighs rubbing together when I walk which causes skin irritation. I sometimes watch a random Korean girl's weight loss journey videos, and the comments are always flooded with you're anorexic, even though my goal is similar to many of them. I also can't share my goal weight on weight loss support groups for this reason because being told I'm anorexic, which I am just not, is frustrating -_-

My ex boyfriend was actually trans (FtM, and he confirmed that it's really not fair. Before starting testosterone treatment, he had always played several sports but had remained chubby. After starting T treatment, he no longer played sports but the basic amount of activity he did without trying was enough for him to suddenly snap into better shape Verbatim it's actually not fair how easy it is for me to lose fat and gain muscle now.
It was annoying, but also a bit vindicating. It helped me understand that while my guy friends were well-intentioned in their advice, what worked for them wasn't going to work for me. And it wasn't because of some personal failing.

Can I give you ladys a quick tip? I had the same problem I'm reading in all of the comments. My scale didn't budge although I had a caloric deficit and worked out. I tried amino acids (L-carnitin) because my diet doesn't contain enough protein and almost no meat. L-carnitin can boost the fat metabolism but it will only work if you work out and have a caloric deficit (but this seems to be the case for most of the women here. The weight loss isn't SPECTACULAR but at least I could finally see something happening (I track my body fat with a special scale. Might be something to try out for the ones of you who have hit a plateau or see absolutely no results.

I get so pumped to work out and maybe even wear something kinda cute that day but then I get up and I notice myself and it's all downhill. Also later that evening I'll have dinner and be full physically satisfied and think about all the trigger foods in the house. I'll notice that I dont really need them this night and I can have more tomorrow if I desire. But then I end up caving and eating who knows what till I feel sick and often leads to unmotivation the following morning. I cant help but wonder if it's why I'm not seeing any physical changes and lack of sleep. Is this habit breakable?

Thanks for sharing the info about the diets over time in men vs women! I was working out for my wedding and it honestly took about 6-8 months of consistent workouts and eating healthy for me to see results, while my husband saw results right away. I was having fun, feeling better, and didnt stress about the timeline because I gave myself a year to get healthier. I think a lot of people stress out when it doesnt happen instantly, and that cortisol sabotages your progress. Just relax and enjoy the journey, and accept that results are not instant. Give yourself a realistic timeline.

I was having fun, feeling better, and didnt stress about the timeline because I gave myself a year to get healthier. I think a lot of people stress out when it doesnt happen instantly, and that cortisol sabotages your progress. Just relax and enjoy the journey, and accept that results are not instant. Give yourself a realistic timeline.
