3 things i wish i knew before i started training - workout mistakes - Fraser Wilson Rich: my take away from this vid is that -correct form- + -less is more- + -lean bulking- = -smart training- or -train smart-. Weight training is not just a physical activity of moving weights around but it also involves my brain paying attention to each repetition. When I am doing a weight training exercise I focus my mind on the specific muscles that are being worked. I refer to this as having my -mind in the muscle-. It is the ultimate mind & body connection for me. It insures that I use correct form and it keeps me razor sharp focused on my weight training workout.

Quick question Fraser, the image of you in the thumbnail with visible, yet slightly bloated and a rounded stomach when relaxed is the sorta position I'm in, when flexed your abs look good, but when unflexed they're not exactly the greatest. To get rid of that look, would you put it down to strengthening the transversus abdominis to lead to the abs being held in more tightly, giving you a flatter, sharper midsection? Obviously low bf% and actual ab development is crucial, but to get rid of that bloated look? Vacuums? Thanks man, always inspiring me to push harder -

definitely know what you mean when you say less is more. when i first started going to the gym last juli i was going 7x a week (5x lifting, 2x running) and saw barely any gains. once school started in september i went 4x and now i go 3x and have definitely gotten stronger.
also, you shouldve mentioned sleep!

Great lessons! When I first started working out these would have came in handy for sure! Especially the tip about form for the first few years. I still have some exercises that I need work with, but back then I would ego lift so much and it definitely slowed me down. Another great video bro!

Going with the -less is more-. This includes complete rest days to fully recover, not just less sets and less exercises. You need a complete days rest to let your whole body get the rest it needs. Also good to have a deload week every couple of months to let your CNS rest

Hey Fraser, I saw the clip of you using the smith machine to bench press. Do you recommend this? I've been told to never use Smith machines but my gym doesn't have a free weight bench press so I do dumbbell press instead. What would be more beneficial?

#1 I agree pefect form is best in training. No results if the workout is not correct. #2 Less wait always better for me when I'm training I just do more reps to aviod injuries. I listen to my body and take rest days! Your video has so much turth!

Super helpful video, But It's so hard changing to good form after years of just going for weight. I fall back into the bad habits and have to catch myself. Hope the beginners took that away from this. Form is truly more important.

Form is really everything. When I started doing tricep pulldowns I had crappy form and I didn-t feel really any contraction and about a month and a half ago I got my form right and I-m sore after every tricep workout -
