Yep Bolzano is kinda questionable; ) Not sure I would personally choose Bolzano, Como and the Dolomites over the Alps and the Gran Paradiso national park (or Gran Sasso which is our miniature mongolia. Taormina. Modena and Verona. but hey taste is personal! ;) All beautiful places don't get me wrong: as u say Italy is quite a treasure box and one of the most varied territories out there. By the way I agree the Amalfi coast is great. Furore is totally unbelievable it looks like a set from Lord of the Rings!

Take the train. DO NOT buy your ticket(s) on line but go to the train station at least two days before departure. For a long trip, take first class. The scenery is worth the price of the ticket! Airports are a chaotic nightmare. Train travel in Italy is cheap! I travelled from Imperia all the way to Barcelona for about 100 Euros. What a trip, all along the Mediterranean.

Siracusa historic but Taormina is spectacular, see both. I have visited all 20 Regions in Italia, that list should be much, much longer and still it would be inadequate. No other country in the EU has our history, not even close nor our cuisine nor our. the list goes on and on. Odd, Napoli not on the list see Naples then die who said that, was so correct.

catch an easyjet plane. the only affordable trip on the train is from Verona to Munich and that is still pricey. German trains are significantly more expensive than Italian ones. though both are still a lot cheaper than UK train ticket prices

I got my trip planned to Italy sorted but I would like to visit Germany on the way back to UK. Would you say travelling via train to Germany from Italy would be economical? or would you just recommend catching a plan! Thanks

One of the best things about Rome are the sunsets. The colour are amazing, especially when they reflect on the buildings! Most great painters went to Rome to learn their trade. There's a good reason for that: -)

excuse but I'm from Milan and I think you should put it in the list, Bolzano isn't in the top 10 italian cities, then Pompeii and Herculaneum WERE cities, now they are the best place in the world

very nice, great job! have you a favourite country? if so which one? and you travel so much because of work or? just curiosity; -D. sorry for my bad, bad english: -). saluti dall' Italia.

Como and Bolzano in the top ten? Come on! They may be nice but definitely not in the top ten. You forgot about Naples, Palermo and Lecce in the south. As well as Milan in the north.

This makes my 10 trip to Rome and Maiori seem quaint. I just don't want to be in a new location every two days and miss out on exploring. I wish I had more time.
