Safari: 10 Things That SHOCK Travelers on Safari - Wolters World
video description
- The roads/ground in Tanzania is often a super-fine 'red dust' powder, and that can get everywhere, especially on a long journey. Khaki 'safari wear' is practical, because it doesn't show the dust. avoid white clothes and stuff like that.
- Careful changing lenses on your camera because of that dust. Also take a good camera bag which will keep it away from the dust while you're travelling.
- Get the right anti malaria meds to take out.
- Take a good torch. On the equator it gets light at 6am and dark at 6pm. You'll be hundreds of miles from big towns and street lights. you'll never have seen darkness like this!
- Also look into the sky. With far less light pollution, you'll never have seen stars like this either!

I have been on three safari tours. That is a good start. I hope to do more. I am not all that adventurous. The tour leaders make things safe. I have used Overseas Adventure Travel ten times and counting. Do your research and go. Two thousand twenty two through 2030 are going to be a big travel years for me.

I can totally relate to this! My first Safari was in the Kruger National Park in South Africa, and as I'm driving by I saw a herd of elephants just sitting on the side of the road eating leaves off a tree! Moment you never forget!

Love it! Question for you: When hiking/backpacking here in the US, I am very aware of not having anything scented in my tent at night, as well as food. Is it the same when you are in a camp like that?

Going on a safari was a highlight of my life. We went 5 star but you still need to follow all the security you mentioned.
But if anyone has an opportunity to go on Safari. GO!

As cool as it would be to see all these animals I don't think I could handle a lion outside my tent. Something about getting eaten alive doesn't appeal to me.

I've learned to adapt to taking cold showers when I went on camp outings growing up. 5-10 quick cold shower and that was that.
