Let's fly the planet's busiest air route with Korean Air from Seoul's Gimpo Airport to Jeju! Join me on the second floor of a Boeing 747 from Seoul to Jeju and in First Class on a 777 on the way back! Meanwhile, you'll see a bit of Jeju, too! Curious about Jeju?

I fly them weekly last 3 years over Asiana and many expats on 777s (Australians) and 3739s US Cargo/ex Delta retirees now as shortage of senior captains. They do autoland excessively and same with OZ which can cause issues like in SFO crash. Anyhow they are a quality airline, rarely upgrade in F so you will never have more than 2pax in my experience. Always upgrade to F on J ticket out of DLC and skyteam elites always treated as VIPs. Like all airlines have their Frist world issues like putting Y pax upstairs on CTS flights and J pax downstairs even though it is empty but not as exclusive. Seem they like to please westerners and leave seat next to you space if no westerners and after 35 flights in a row in J never sit near anyone. I do dress and smell ok lol
Best wishes

Gimpo used to be the main airport of Seoul until they built incheon. South Korea realized that gimpo wasnt big enough to handle the traffic coming through so they built the state of the art modern airport in incheon on an island. Also sitting on the upper deck on a 747 is awesome! I sat upper deck once on a 747 business class back in the mid 90s when I was like 5. Me my sister and my dad flew to The USA to visit mom who was studying abroad at USC (Southern California not South Carolina sorry Jeb. Back then even coach would have been business class for me at that age as far as the seat goes.

KAL has a special significance for me. First, I flew with my mom in 1981 on KAL 007 from New York to Seoul via Anchorage. As you may recall in 1983 that was the flight that was shot down by the Soviet Union. Second, the only person more interested in aviation than me (and you Jeb) was my mom. We really enjoyed the service then and it appears it is still amazing!

I know it's sounds strange, but it's really an experience flying domestic in Korea. If you ever get the chance try flying the Air Busan service between Gimpo and Busan, try it! Even if it's an economy airline it's still the best domestic flight I've done so far.

I had never heard of Jeju before, but after watching this video it is on my bucket list of places to see. Jeb, do you think Korean Air is making money on this route? A short hop and they are using widebody aircraft? U. S. airlines would be using a CRJ!

I flew from Seoul to Jedu on C130 in 1979 to go to the army adventure Camp. We repelled down a 300 ft cliff and pulled ourselves across a rope bridge about 100 yards over an ocean choice. Only time I've seen it snow on the beach.

SkyTeam is definitely the best. Star Alliance has United (budget airline for people not on a budget, OneWorld isn't bad, but SkyTeam has Delta, and Delta is the best American airline in my opinion.

wonderful vid sir - when you climb those stairs, pop out on the 2nd floor and are personally escorted to your seat - priceless. That roll and take off was pretty darn spectacular too.

Korean flies into DFW everyday usually on either a Dreamliner or a 777. Im not a fan of the livery, the baby blue almost looks, idk, old? Like it was painted 20 years ago and faded in the sun.

Don't know what the point of using long range aircraft such as the 777 and 747 for such a short distance is. I frankly don't see how it could possibly be more efficient or cost effective.

t the risk of starting a new Air War, I must say that we Australians have always been told that the Sydney - Me; bourne route is the busiest - or is it just the most congested?
reply

Id love to fly on a 747 once because I never had the chance and maybe I dont even have that chance anymore because every year more and more airliners retire their 747s

Great video Jeb. Thank you for introducing me to not so well known locations. I had never heard of Jeju until today. Thanks for making educational and entertaining videos.

Just curious, why is an 180 mile route the busiest route in the world when that's a very doable 3-4 hr drive/bus ride and high speed rail is probably just as fast as flying?

Skyteam has got to be my favorite alliance. I have a great status with all skyteam airlines. My best status is with KLM, but I have a good status with aeromexico and Delta.

Great video! Know exactly what you mean, Ive always dreamt about traveling upstairs on a 747 (although I was up there, I once stuck upstairs for a min when I was a kid: ) )
reply

I have only flown on the 747 a couple of times and that was back when I was young in the 70's. Remember wanting to know what strange world lurked up the stairs

Jeb good video, but music is overpowering and not leveled with the voice over. I constantly have to lover the volume when music segment starts.
reply

Great choice in music. Love the sound of those 777 engines on takeoff. Rewound several times to hear them. What types of engines are they?
reply

Great watching your videos always, however love the background music. Please if you could share the name of it. Thanks and see you in the sky: )

Got to see one of these beauties land and taxi to the gate yesterday in Atlanta. Never saw a 747 in person before, such a beautiful aircraft.
reply

2: 04 sorry jeb, I am more of a star alliance guy, but after a wonderful domestic flight with delta from EWR - SAN I am starting to reconsider.
reply

Korean air is cool. Back in 2016 I flew Korean air economy class on a 777-300er from Chicago to Inchon. Beautiful plane. Thanks for uploading

And now HL7460 is stored up in Oscoda along with HL7402 used for spare parts for Kalitta. I saw them both last month up in Oscoda, MI
