Hope you and yours never get stuck on one of these excursions. I will NEVER go to a predominately Muslim country. All it takes is an incident to have them declare any non-believer/infidel their new target du jour! Buddhist and Hindu on the other hand are a whole other matter. Nothing in their teachings make them want to lie, cheat, steal or attack any other group. But on this trip, I would be starving. Nothing in the food even looked appealing. I don't drink alcohol at all and abhor caviar. But some of the worst meals I've had have been at so-called 4 and 5 star places and I've ended up having to eat again at a regular food place that made better tasting food at better prices. I think people who eat expensive fancy food HAVE to say it's great to justify the ludicrously expensive prices that they paid for very little food provided. Just like people who buy expensive cars say that they're wonderful, even though it costs and arm and a leg to upkeep and it still breaks down often. But it's good that you go, so that it shows what these places are like and reaffirms that while I could afford it, I would NEVER want to do it.

I'm from this wonderful country yet I am not familiar with this train, so thank you for introducing this. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Malaysia, though the only thing I wish is that I can coach you on how to pronounce the names correctly or close to it. Also Taman Negara National Park is a tautology: Taman Negara already means national park, so you visited National Park National Park.
One thing to note about the train is that the tracks here are still meter gauge, so narrower than the standard gauge of most trains in the world. Therefore, the top speeds are not very high--granted a sleeper train don't travel that fast--and the high speed rail offered on the rails here have a top speed of 140 km/h (90 mph) with a normal cruising speed of 120 km/h (75 mph.
But hopefully you will be back! Since you mentioned you traveled in March, it was the tail end of the dry season in this region, so this is why you may notice you haven't experienced much rain.

Why don’t you know more about good wine Good dining You’re eating and drinking good stuff all the time. There’s always this essence of we know nothing and not foodies. It’s YOUR world. Please learn about the wines you drink. Don’t say things are wasted on you. Start cooking, man. I’d rather see you learning things than continually say you know nothing. I’d love a vlogger to actually dig deeper into the food and drink experience than having this out with, um wine tastes like grapes. You’re given a gift, now learn a bit and share more please. Literally food for thought.
All out of love. Love you guys!

For some people the birds sing --- they just don't sing for everybody or for that matter most of them. Do I care how the upper crust lives Interesting but well, not really. Face the truth: with millions of wine names do you really think you know what you are getting Took a wine tasting on a cruise and to my taste the $12 wine tasted better than the $120 wine. There's no accounting for a plebs taste. tsk, tsk, tsk.

Beautiful countryside, an amazing train, charming hosts, and another wonderful video! I also love the concept of an open-air observation car. like both of you, I think I'd spend most of my time there (when I'm not in the dinning car enjoying all that delicious looking food of course. Thanks Jeb and Suzanne for sharing the trip with everyone! (but Jeb - how can you not like English tea lol! .Cheers to you both.

We absolutely loved this vlog, so interesting, can totally understand the we’re not fancy people’ I did a day trip a couple of times on the Orient Express in England and thoroughly enjoyed it, but don’t think I could sustain fancy food for a great length of time, but loved escaping to that world for the day.

This train route has literally been on my bucket list since I was in High School (which is now approaching 15 years at this point)- I lived and worked in Thailand for two years and did a lot of travel through Malaysia and Singapore so just any kind of relaxing trip is still number one in my book! Awesome video!

Now the aesthetic and fabrics and attention to detail and incredibly beautiful food on top of the view, and I’m sure the excellent service, is what I think of when I hear luxury train. And while being a Canadian, we have the incredible views, the trains, well kind of leaves something to be desired.
reply

I absolutely love your videos! At almost 80 I’m not traveling anymore of course never say never but for the most part I’m just at home so your videos take me places I’ll never go thank you! Have you ever found meals that you just couldn’t eat that just weren’t to your taste at all
reply

I’m not poor by any means, but unfortunately, although this trip looks magnificent, I might be too poor for it, after all.
This is probably one of the most beautiful trips you’ve done, flying first class is cool and all, but trains are so much fun.

I have to ask. do they have an alternate menu to look at I'd be fine with everyrhing g you showed, but my other half is VERY picky. She won't do seafood, not a fan of curry, not a fan of eggs. She's a tough one to plan stuff like this with for sure.

The train videos remain my favorites. I'm with you Jeb 100% that observation car would be my morning routine. I wouldn't want to leave lol just amazing views. What a way to experience train travel. Great work guys what a great experience!

Jeb: I am not a fan of afternoon tea
I don't understand, how can anyone not be a fan of delicious food and a cup of tea in the afternoon What about afternoon tea are you not a fan of The delicious food or the delicious cup of tea

reply

What's not to like about Afternoon Tea Alternating bites of sweet and savory with a nice cup of tea (or coffee) to wash it down. I am pretty much American and not at all fancy, but Afternoon Tea is actually my favorite meal.

very cool to see, but also a little bittersweet the silver star was unfortunately a brief highpoint before becoming a bit of a basket case and subsequently a microcosm of many of the issues that undermined train travel in NZ
reply

loved the video I've been all over Asia and the middle east the people are so nice but I hate the humidity which is pretty rough at times. The food is always top notch. Singapore was my favorite then Bangkok followed by Tokyo
