In the Transcon Throwdown miniseries, I'll kyle: As I scroll through all of the comments, I have seen very mixed feelings. To me it either seems like everyone prefers United or JetBlue but theres no middle. I have only seen very strong feelings. I feel that there are pros and cons to both. I dont quite feel that either are much better than another. This also reminds me of other debates, like Apple vs Samsung. Both have their merits though many people have very very strong feelings. I am very interested to see what Jeb feels.
Also, for an airline that still isnt quite as large as many, but is considered a major US carrier, their service is impressive. One issue I find with all videos like this and I understand is largely unavoidable, is that the cabin crew always differs. As Jeb says, he didnt have a great cabin crew though one other flights you may get great ones.

United is superior, but it costs substantially more than JetBlue's Mint. You get what you pay for. I have flow Mint occasionally, but not having a First Class Lounge is the biggest draw back for me. United has spectacular lounges in Newark AND San Francisco. I also agree Mint's seats are not comfortable and their food service is meh. However, I've never had bad service on JetBlue, even in coach. Flight Attendants, gate and ticket counter agents have always been first rate. Can't say that about United's ground staff at Newark, which are mostly ex Continental employees. But United's Newark hub is fantastic, better than Delta and American at JFK.

I live in a Jet Blue hub (Ft. Lauderdale) but am a 1M AAdvantage member, so fly out of MIA. I have no intention of jumping ship, especially considering Ill be moving out to L. A. when I retire in a month (back to family. Jet Blue does a good service for what they are. Everyone Ive talked to has generally positive comments about theyre experiences. I think it all boils down to ones location/hub city and if you want/need an extensive route network, premium cabin/s and airport lounges. Thanks for sharing Jeb. I look forward to your AA review.

Greetings Jeb. Your videos are awesome. I am a frequent flier across the USA, and I think it is great that you are doing this for all of us. BUT, in my opinion, if you are going to compare Trancon equally, you need to keep the city pairs the same. Some Carriers hold certain routes much higher in both revenue and importance than others. If you are calling SFO your base, than it may be more helpful to make it consistent to fly from SFO to. etc. Your last two had two different routes. Just my opinion. :) Thank you again!

I've been waiting for your JetBlue review. I'm a huge fan of JetBlue especially since my home airport is JFK. I haven't had the opportunity to fly Mint (yet.
I'm not sure if JetBlue will ever have a lounge especially since they're still considered a budget airline. If they do, it would most likely be out of JFK or BOS. They're a budget airline with some characteristics of a legacy airline
Anyway, I love your reviews so keep em coming

As I read the comments, I'm seeing that there are those who love the JetBlue product and those who don't. I'm curious if this based on geography. I get the feeling that JetBlue is liked/loved/adored by East coast folks and disliked by West coast folks.
Being the airline is HQ'ed in Queens, NY and probably considers JFK its home airport, I'm thinking that the airline is preferred by those in the Northeast.
Any thoughts on this?

As David Dillon says, JetBlue is a discount carrier and for them to offer a more premium hard product is good. The food looked surprisingly good, paper napkins and placemats wouldn't bother me in the least. I'm sure the fares are much lower than the big 3 for their premium class(es.
I'm also a fan of Paul's Trip Reports. He's very down to earth, thorough, and I enjoy his train reviews as well as his airline videos.

I'm guessing Delta will be the best and JetBlue pretty close behind. Delta's transcon crews are known to be some of the best, and amenities are strong despite using a variety of often older aircraft. Surprised you didn't get a better crew, since JB is known for their staff's service. Sometimes JB's crews are so attentive, that it slows down service. This sounds like the opposite.
reply

aren't you comparing apples and cherries. a legacy airlines such UA is bound to have a better product than a discount airline as Jet blue. Is it fair? In my humble opinion you should have compared the legacy ( or what is left of them) between them and discount airlines: Jet blue, Southwest and Spirit Airlines in coach. but do you even fly coach to start with?
reply

So, what you have to also remember is JetBlue is still a discount airline, I think the only one that offers the premium cabin. So, yes they are outmatched by the giants, but for a discounter, this is a great opportunity. But, I feel, that is why you still get some reduced services, like the seat reclining situation, and the paper napkins etc. Great Video though.

Great video Jeb. What was the price for the Mint service ticket? Was it comparable to the price for a business class ticket on the other three airlines you are comparing at this time? If the price was considerably less than the other airlines then I would give Jet Blue a try. Otherwise I would fly on one of the other carriers.

I feel ya regarding the seat. I didn't like it very much either. I also realized how sensitive the cushion controls were; I felt my seat belt become a little too snug after realizing my hand, though casually placed on the armrest, was actually activating the cushion feature.
reply

I really like the series. Its very interesting. Im considering flying AA next year to PLS, since they offer an insanely good price in Business and Firstclass that I could hardly believe it. AFAIK given the Homepage of AA, the Hardproduct seems very attractive.
reply

Nice video, yes I still think United would have a much better service than Jet Blue. That seat just didn't look all that comfortable for one, food service nice but I want cloth napkins and nice cloth place mat. Otherwise looked ok to me.

The day will come when you'll be able to cross the USA in the time it takes to watch this video, but until then we'll still have the pleasure of flying with on-board service and having it relayed to us stylishly by people like you.
reply

I am very impressed with your videos. As an aspiring trip reporter and filmmaker I am curious about equipment used in making aviation trip reports. Can you tell me what camera (and mount) you use for window shots?
reply

As I checked just now, you have 8998 subs. 2 away from being 9K. And thanks for the honest review. I still believe that jetBlue can make it to the top. It'll be Delta otherwise. Sorry, not a fan of United or AA.
reply

Have you ever been on a airplane and had Engine trouble? I was at Atlanta and the plane fell 500 feet we crossed the jet path of anther plane, after we got back to climbing I saw the hands go up for liquor lol
reply

Jeb Brooks You should fly JetBlue core class or even more space on an A321 or restyled A320. If you fly an E190 or a not restyled A320 you will still enjoy it, but the newer seat designs are extraordinary!
reply

Thanks for the shout out Jeb! I love JetBlue Mint but it always baffles me how the throne seats are available to early bookers (who generally pay lower fares compared to late bookers.
reply

Love your videos and reviews Jeb! Looks like B6 Mint is nice, but an inattentive crew kinda makes the flight much less appealing, IMHO. Can't wait to see the next review! Nice work!
reply

I say when doing AA, try to get in either an A319, or a A321 sharklets or a 737. Those mostly have the best AA experience, except for the 787 and a330s and other planes like that.
reply

I agree with your shoutout to Paul's Trip Reports. He's great!
jetBlue Mint still is #1 in my ranking, maybe next time they could get some cloth napkins though!

reply

I'm sticking with my up-front ranking made at the first (United) video. Some surprising fails from Jetblue but segwaying from BC to almost FC is definitely a plus.
reply

I know you are a fan of the Bombardier C Series or Airbus A220. Are you trying JetBlues inaugural A220 flight on Monday April 26, 2021 from BOS-TPA?
reply

what percentage of the videos you post are from business trips? Just curious since you travel so often. If they're from personal trips, then, LUCKY!
reply

This service did not appear to be all that great, paper table cloth and napkins, please. So far UAL looks better. Keep up the great work.
reply

I'd fly them.
BUT they're financed by THE EVIL GEORGE SOROS!
YOU shiuld all know this!
I will absolutely nor give them one cent!

reply

I would never understand why you want time to yourself. You are on an airplane. If you want privacy and time to yourself go by private jet.
reply

I used to always fly jetblue. They are great airline. But i work for delta now so it doesn't really make since to fly another airline.
