Nice review. I would love Hawaiian to start nonstop services from Honolulu to Europe. Going via LAX/SFO or EWR is such a hassle for non US citizens. Lufthansa did once a nonstop charter from MUC to HNL with a flying time of 15: 45 I think, on a 346.
As a former flight attendant I find it strange when crew disappear during the flight. I am used to, and we were required to check the cabin/lavatories every 15 minutes, and doing so you would offer glasses of water/juices from a tray. Of course, on your flight the crew was having breaks (dont know if Hawaiian provides dedicated crew rest areas for their employees) but a crew member must always be available in each galley.

I like that you have a five-criteria scorecard to compare flights. One thing that I would add is the value-for-money criterion: e. g, comparing total fare/cost per flight or per flight-hour to make easy comparisons across airlines and itineraries. For my experience, First Class and Business Class can be enjoyable but they are extremely over priced: e. g, the equivalent of a month's take-home pay (or more) for something that is all done within hours.

Your videos are entertaining Jeb. That said, and please don't take offense, but we keep noticing how your moustache has an annoying white blotch on the right side. You must color it or something. And your beard is different colors and looks unkempt. We don't mean to offend you! Just saying that your facial appearance could be cleaned up. It does not look neat or well groomed.

The lounge food looks unappetizing, well I guess I won't try it. The coffee machine sucks, well, at least I got coffee. The TSA Pre-check is not open, oh well, at least I don't have a take off my shoes. The in-flight map was not available on the iPad, well, I guess it was not ideal. You have the PATIENCE OF A SAINT. By the way, that Rolex GMT looks sweet!

I must say. Using ipads as the IFE is genius. It probably saves them a ton compared to the certification cost of an installed system, and when new devices come out they can update them as needed. The ipads probably also have a nicer screen and headphone capabilities, and basically everyone knows how to use an ipad.

EWR--HNL is the best balance of convenience and price if you dont live on NYC. phl is our airport but we drive the extra 45 min for the direct flight. I have flown JFK's direct to HNL in Hawaiian first (pre lay-flat seats) but JFK just isnt worth it.

When I was stationed on Oahu back in the 90s, I used to fly Delta mostly when I flew home on leave. Honolulu to Atlanta on an L-1011. I thought that was a long flight, but this is something else. I think if I were to do this it would have to be first class.

are the bathrooms tiny as hell? i've never went to the bathroom on a plane before. up until a few weeks ago. i really. really had to pee. and i swear, the bathroom was as wide as my hips. i never wanna use an airplane bathroom ever again.

That map at 0: 21 is way off. The great circle route from Boston to Honolulu goes over multiple states, including Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and well north of San Francisco, not well south of San Diego, as your map suggests.

My one ever Hawaiin Airlines flight doesn't really count. Contracted military rotator Philadelphia to Iceland. But I coincidentally have an Island Hopper reservation Lihue to Honolulu in couple months on Hawaiin: )

Excellent video. I went to college in Boston, so it always holds a place dear to my heart. I now live in Honolulu and see the planes make that wide arc into the Honolulu airport over the ocean from my lanai.

I was on this flight but I was in the economy class. You are right about the TSA-Pre-check. It didnt feel like a very long flight to me.
