Jeb I am a retired NC Army National Guard officer from Charlotte whose only Alaska Airline flight was from Charleston AFB, SC to Howard AFB, Panama to go thru Jungle School before Vietnam. Imagine my surprise seeing the Alaska B722 on the ramp when we arrived and then flying it to and from Panama. One other thing they have a daily flight from Seattle to Charleston still. Check it out sometime and keep up the good work sir. I have friends in the Civil Air Patrol who are part of the CAP squadron in Greensboro and they fly out of GSO.

I just watched this after seeing your island hopper flight to Guam--if you like that type of flight, you should really fly the milk run that Alaska does through Southeast Alaska sometime (SEA-ANC with. many stops in between. I think you could make an eight-leg trip out of it, though I might recommend a layover in Juneau. Some of the most amazing flying--I feel so lucky to have experienced it. Alaska also does a flight out to Adak, a small island in the Aleutian chain.

The merger is a bit of a shame because Alaska won't be keeping the seats as awesome as they were on Virgin, but it is good because it helps Alaska grow. I cannot wait until I can fly Alaska out of an airport that is within an hour's drive of me, as their first class is better than the first class in any of the majors that us normal size town people can actually use (no lie flats on AA, Delta, or United either when your airports are Richmond and Norfolk.

Very interesting route. Alaska must use certain 737-800s (no 900s have the TOLD to depart DCA) that don't have thrust restrictions (most Alaska 737s dont have the option to turn off DERATED THRUST. Departing DCA to Seattle crews often use a Flaps 25 NO derated thrust bump takeoff procedure, to get off 7000ft of runway, fully loaded. One Captain described it as one of the most critical departures in the system.

Im going to Hawaii (the Big Island) next summer, and Ill be flying first class on Alaska. Originally, I was gonna be on a direct flight to Kona out of Oakland, but due to a schedule change a few days ago, I now have a stopover in Seattle, which means Ill get lounge access there. Hopefully it will be an amazing experience, and Im excited for both it and my vacation.

In my years in the cockpit I tried to tailor my PAs to the audience. If you're flying to MCO (Orlando-formerly McCoy AFB) you knew the kids onboard would love to know how high and fast you would be flying. On routine business flights all they cared about was how the ride would be, when we would get there and how the destination weather was, not a word more.

We are really lucky out here to have a bunch of Alaska and Delta service. I've spent quite a bit of time in those 1st class 737 seats. One of my most memorable flights ever was on an Alaska 737 out of Seatac where the pilot gave us the very best view of Mt. Rainier I will ever get. Thanks for the vid sir.

My buddy was a Virgin American pilot and he made the transfer over to Alaska. 6 months in he quit. He said they were not very accepting of the VA pilots at Alaska Airlines at all and were treated like garbage. He and a lot of others left for other jobs

Hi Jeb, Thank you for affirming my decision to fly Alaska Airlines First Class when I travel from Orlando to Seattle in August to catch my cruise. I am wanting to make this a memorable trip and with Alaska Airlines it looks like it will be!

If you are flying out of Sea/Tac and Alaska goes to where you are traveling you would be making a big mistake not to enjoy a flight with them. Just do it, you will feel like first class no matter where you sit on the aircraft.

If I were to rate airlines then alaska would be up there with emirates and Etihad, Alaska in my opinion has Best comfort, entertainment, crew and the passengers, you can make some really good friends with crew and passengers

Flew Alaska from Seattle to Pittsburgh in July and into Chicago in September, both first class. No Blanket or pillow and the food was standard. The flight crew was awesome though. I will check out the lounge next time.

Alaska is my go to for domestic flights. The last time I flew with them, I flew on a rebranded Virgin America plane and it was interesting to see a mix of both airlines in flight experience.

I went from Houston Texas to Seattle and Houstons intl airport was super big! I flew Alaska and they have the best service and leg room ever! Alaskan airlines is the BEST airline

Im from Tacoma and I fly Alaska and I like it. But I only flew Alaska when I was younger because my parents family now flies Delta.

I used to fly with Virgin America. I really loved their service, but too expensive for me. So the merger got me excited because Alaska is cheaper XD

Alaska Airlines first class seats are terrible. No footrests and they hardly recline. No amenity kits. Foods pretty good but it doesnt make up for it.

from the looks of the landing i can tell its Runway 1 at DCA im familiar with the layout at DCA i go there frequently so im used to it.

I flew Alaska from SeaTac to DFW, it was the first plane I had been on since 1965. I really enjoyed the crews attitude (great) too.
