I live in Atlanta, so like it or not, I'm married to Delta. That said, Delta service has improved dramatically in the past 10 years. My Million Mile status got me a small suitcase a few years ago. Meh. Silver medallion status these days, double meh. But I do like my long standing Platinum Medallion status. Okay, last month I flew with 2 significant others on miles, RT, Atlanta-London for 44K miles each. Steerage to be sure, BUT: hot towels in economy not once, but twice. Choice of 3 meals, and the food was actually not just edible, but actually good! Frequent drink service. I was almost spoiled into NOT using upgrades or booking future flights in Business. Okay, the punchline. We returned from a transatlantic cruise yesterday. Flying SkyTeam Lisbon to Atlanta in business was about $2500. each, one way. I opted for TAP Portugal, Star Alliance, for $860 each, their business class. Ancient, ex-Singapore Airlines A330. Very reminiscent of a Delta 767 10+ years ago. Meh service, ghastly food. The good side: on time takeoff and landings, the port wines were excellent. Given a choice of flying TAP or Delta/Air France in business, hands down, Delta would be my choice. Oh, and I like being thanked, both on the ground and in the air for my Platinum status. Delta, you have come a very, very long way since the corporate raiders opted to destroy you 20 years ago!

Im sorry but if you ever flown any of the of the other Skyteam airlines you will know that Delta is absolute garbage and so is their staff, they are rude, incompetent, and do not care about frequent flyers of any other program than their own. Their planes are so old they have fought against the Germans in WW2 (767-300/400 and md80) and are total garbage on the inside, dirty, smelly, uncomfortable.
Do fly KLM one time and learn what a nice airline can be like. Fly ANA one time and learn what an amazing airline can be like.
It is fascinating to see in a country that knows so much about how to create great service and convenience that neither of the big 3 US airlines manage to put a decent competitive product in place which is on par in both price and quality with Asian or even European carriers. Go shame on you Delta!

First of all congrats. This brings up my only issue with Delta. I'm not a frequent flyer but when I do fly it's a real treat for me and my family. The last time I flew I noticed all 3 airlines I used catered to those with a flight status or who were the loudest. All 6 seats I had requested to book(2 on each plane) were given to other passengers sometimes splitting up my wife and I. My first flight on Delta was on this same trip. The seats I had requested were given to someone else. Somehow they pushed us all the way back to the windowless very back corner seat. So my first and only flight on Delta sucked and any respect I had for them went out my imaginary window. Are there anyway I can make sure I have better seating next time? Is it true that those who call ahead of their flight and are the loudest can get a better seat?

Hi Jeb! I'm a gate agent for Delta in nearby RDU, and I grew up in Winston-Salem with GSO as my home airport. I'm so excited for your awesome achievement. It's friendly faces like yours that make me love my job! Your videos are always so interesting to watch, and I'm always so happy to hear when a customer feels the impact of the Delta Difference.
Side note: I flew into GSO a couple weeks ago and noticed that same DC-8! What a cool spot.

As for me, if they give me the wings at 1M Ill ask them if they mean that Im hired to be a pilot with them, ha ha! I had an active application in to be a pilot with Delta from 2006 until 2010 but I never heard anything back.

When I was flying JAL from USA to Tokyo and onward to Bangkok I had accumulated 500, 000 miles on these flights which were frequent. At the 500, 000 mile mark I was given a beautiful Passport Holder with my name on a plate of it's cover from JAL's Global club. I still use it today. It's the little things in life that count. Right?

A while back delta was not the best for people traveling with luggage, a term some used was Dont Expect Luggage To Arrive (DELTA) but over the years, they seem to have gotten their stuff together because they are a great airline to travel with, and I always have an amazing time when flying with them.

Good video and congrats! How did you get tabulation of your lifetime miles to appear on your account page? I had to write Delta several times to learn my lifetime mileage total (450k) b/c all they would give me was year to date? Does it come in automatically when you get close to 1m?

after landing in geneva two days ago (I hit 1M enroute) I got a text from delta if I was recognized and how was it. I did not know that was a thing. so ya no no recognition whatsoever. The only good news is one of the gift options was a $1000 egift. Yup thats what I chose

Always been a huge fan of Delta over the other airlines, but Southwest practically owns BNA (Nashville. Not to mention those baggage fees can tend to get steep when you're flying. Always fly Delta when I can. But usually when it's on somebody else's dime. :)

My wife and I chose Delta to be our primary airline (we're SkyMiles members too) because Atlanta is our home airport. We agree that the service on Delta tends to be a cut above everyone else. It would be a dream of ours to be million milers one day

I used to fly Delta all the time for work starting in 2012 as DTW was my home airport but I now live in DFW so I dont fly Delta as much. Would have loved to see how many miles I would have racked up had I stayed with Delta the whole time.

When I first started flying I traveled with Southwest. Since I started this job I have just shy of 4 years ago, I began traveling Delta since it was preferred for work, and I haven't looked back! I use Delta for personal flying as well

Yeah from my knowledge none of the md88s have IFE. Luckily theyre retiring all of them by the end of 2020. Replacing them with 321/neos and 737s. Wonder what theyll replace the plane with for the Greensboro-Atlanta route.

Ah, Delta. they'll always have a special place in my heart - back in the day, when I was a foreign exchange student in the US, both my flights to and from the US were Delta flights. Good times.

After my Millionth mile flight. BWI-ATL on a 757 I asked the Capt for the flight paperwork they use for planning and execution. He gave it to me which was very nice memento of the flight.

That is a lot of miles. Their MD-80 is my favorite. Sadly, they will not be around much longer. My mom worked for Ozark back in the day and I grew up on the DC-9.

PTI is my home airport as well. Nothing beats getting dropped off 30 minutes before boarding starts and walking right on. CLT and RDU can't compete.
