Great video Jeb! I completely agree with your comment about Egypt being one of the most hospital if not most hospital country Ive visited. My wife and I went back in 2009. I remember when we talked about booking, we just decided to jump in and step outside our comfort zone and go. Even flying to Cairo, we were nervous. However, after getting over the initial overwhelmed feeling, I found myself sitting on the balcony looking at the city in just complete awe. There was just so much to take in that I found just observing life was so fascinating. Like you said though, the people were absolutely beautiful both on the outside and inside. Really reminded me of US southern style hospitalitywith people stopping along the street genuinely asking if we needed help and if we declined, they seemed to almost always be like no problem enjoy your visit!

Egypt is the most fascinating and unique place I have ever visited, and even though it's challenging and alien to my own background (grew up in England and then Australia) I would go back in a heartbeat. Egypt stays with you in a way other countries don't. Hope you both had a wonderful time there too! On the flip side, I flew from Australia to Egypt on Egyptair in Business Class and it was hands down the WORST flight I have ever taken (and I have flown a lot. The service was shockingly bad, the seats were not comfortable, and the food was dire. I did fly from Cairo to Luxor as well on Egyptair, but that was only for an hour and so hard to compare with a 20 hour flight, although domestically I will say the service was better. Thanks for the videos Jeb - much enjoyed by me!

Although my family on both sides are Istanbul Turks, my mother's side of the family had connections with Egypt stretching back to Ottoman Empire days. Nasser nationalized our property there, but we still had the compensation funds up until the 1980s. When my mum and I visited Istanbul in 1977, we also went down to Cairo with my aunt, uncle and a cousin and spent 19 days there in the height of summer. I haven't been back since, but I definitely will some day soon, I hope. Besides returning to Cairo, I'm hoping to get to Alex, Aswan, Luxor and definitely Abu Simbel. Egypt has its own unique place in my family's history and in my heart.

I've been to Egypt a number of times including living in Alexandria for a short period. It's true that Cairo can be tough for first-timers, and I think your suggestion of a tour company is spot on. Don't try to go it alone, as I did my first time; it gave me stories to tell, but the experience wasn't pleasant in the moment. Egyptians are wonderfully welcoming and down-to-earth, and if you can manage the chaos of Cairo, it's one of the world's most fascinating cities to visit. I would also put in some good words for Alexandria, which is much more relaxed and manageable. The Mediterranean coast doesn't hurt, either.

Egypt is a buetiful and amazing country, full of history and culture. It's fun and exciting, I've been there multiple times. But thankfully Im an arab, and so the people there rarely tried to scam or overcharge me. But for many foreigners you would easily face overcharged prices, scams, and much more, as well as the corruption. I was in fact travelling with a few friends from american and two europeans and a Mexican guy from college, and many people tried to scam us, but thankfully i was there. I really recommend you visit the country at least once but just be careful.

Under unusual delays was a Southwest Airlines flight from Houston to El Paso during the Labor Day weekend in 1990. Shortly after taking off to El Paso, the flight crew leaned the airspace around El Paso was closed for practice of a military flight demonstration team. Seems someone was not closely paying attention to notices the airport would be closed during the practice. We circled over central Texas for a while before being allowed into El Paso. There's not a lot to see other than isolated ranches and private airstrips.

Oh! You have to go back for Luxor! I honeymooned in Hurghada and made side trips to Cairo and Luxor. Luxor is my favorite. The Temple of Karnak and especially the Valley of the Kings were exceptional. Don't get me wrong. Cairo was also very interesting. The museum was amazing and I can't describe the awe I felt seeing the Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx.
If I ever went back, I would do a Nile cruise. I think that would be amazing.

We managed a 'Day trip' to Cairo back in the late 90's. We were on holiday in Cyprus. I seem to remember the flight left about 5 in the morning. In Cairo we had a guided tour of the museum, the pyramids & the Sphinx. Lunch at the Mariot. A visit to a papyrus factory before dinner. Dinner was on the Nile. Complete with entertainment. We touched back down in Cyprus about 1 in the morning. Fantastic

Exquisite presentation Jeb! We visited Egypt fully escorted and with an Egyptologist, and private security. Enjoyed a felucca sail, and also a multi day cruise up the Nile, multiple stops. The Cairo traffic is another dimension. We then flew down to Abu Simbel. For a day trip. Then back to Cairo. We flew Egypt Air from JFK round trip. Jet Blue LAX-JFK. A fascinating trip! Happy travels!

When I was younger I used to work in Egypt for a travel company, every day I knew how lucky I was to be immersed in the history (each day I would walk past Luxor temple on the way to the office) and I was able to travel and see the country for free, highly recommend to return as you will still get the same feelings (I still need to take the wife as shes hasnt been yet)

Jeb, you definitely need to return to go to Luxor! It was by far my favorite place to go! I too flew Egypt Air from CAI down to Luxor just for the day and walked the Valley of the Kings and saw Tut himself along with coutless others. Had lunch along the Nile and walked around the other amazing places of Luxor before catching a flight late that evening back to CAI.

Strangest flight delay Ive had started off as a medical delay, someone had a medical incident and ended up having to get off the flight. Well then they needed to get their bag off, which took some time too. But if that delay hadnt happened the strangest? and coolest delay was due to the entire airport basically pausing while Air Force One took off.

I visited Egypt in the mid 1990's. We flew from Cairo to Aswan and when we landed, everyone applauded, which made me laugh! I then took a boat ride from Aswan back to Cairo, with stops along the way and a chance to ride a felucca. Last day was the light show at the pyramids, a fantastic experience!

I traveled to Egypt in 2019 and after a full two days of touring in Cairo and Giza, I took the night train for a full day tour in Luxor, and then drove from Cairo back to Taba via the Suez Canal and Sinai peninsula.

Thanks for the vid sir, my wife would really, really like to go. And as far as delays like that, yep, I got held up out of Portland International (Oregon) due to some F15 Air National Guard activity once.

Strangest delay: I boarded my plane at DCA, but got put on a ground stop when the Space Shuttle was being flown over the Washington Mall in 2012. Was on the right side of airplane to see it out the window luckily!

Thanks for including on the ground info! Speaking of airport delays, out of my home airport (Tucson - TUS, flights are often delayed a few minutes due to the Air National Guard F-16s (I believe) practicing.

Two strangest delays, 1. Air con units in both my BA 747 400 and Changi airport in 1988. 2. In 2018 waiting for a take slot one waiting for a Poseidon, military sub hunter land at Adelaide Airport.

Shame you did not get to Luxor on this journey, the temple of Karnak alone is more than worth a visit. If you return a lake Nasser cruise to Abu Simbel, is also a must part of any Egypt trip

Thanks for the info. We leave in a couple of weeks. Strangest wait was when we were leaving Honolulu Hawaii and the US Presidential airplane made us wait on the tarmac as it was taking off.

Pity you missed out on Luxor - in many ways it is the most impressive of all. Delays due to military maneuvers are common. We once circled over Cairo for over an hour for that reason

I was delayed on Spirit (of course) because the bathroom broke. The delay was not bad but spending an extra 30 minutes on Spirit Airlines seats was painful, physically and mentally.

Strangest delay was in Tucson. Boarding agent told us that operations had to inspect the runway because the Air Force had accidentally dropped a 500 lb dummy bomb on the runway
