I've been Alaska MVP Gold for several years, and was able to compare them with Delta when they were partners a few years ago, getting to fly on both regularly, often in the same trips. On one Delta flight, chatting with their cabin crew, they said they absolutely didn't want Delta to buy/takeover AS. AS is setting a standard that the other airlines are trying to keep up with, and that was helping Delta give better service. Alaska is consistently the best all around. Just a few times I've encountered less than stellar service, and when I gave Alaska a specific review of the problem, they made it right. they credited me miles or money. Their corporate philosophy sincerely is to please the customer. You get miles or money if your checked baggage isn't available within 30 minutes of gate arrival. If you have the AK Air Visa signature card, you get a 24 hr. pass for lounges for just $25 instead of $50. My last flight was a year ago: DCA-LAX-SEA-FAI. That $25 including both the LAX and SEA Flagship Lounge. priceless. I'll always feel partial to Boeing, but Alaska is smart in keeping the A321NEOs. wonderful ride cross-country. I thought the SEA N Gates Flagship Lounge was spectacular, but haven't had much to compare it with, other than KLM in AMS. So glad you've seen it and love it. Someone else mentioned. you should enjoy a fun day on Alaska's milk run flights--2 or 3 quick stops in very small airports between SEA and ANC. Thank you for all your super fun, visually beautiful, and informative videos. you've given life to our travel dreams this past year!

The only thing that Alaskas missing is built-in IFE, but I guess youre covered as long as you have your own device, and I cant envision them moving to that built-in entertainment model that JetBlue and Delta have on domestic flights. I miss getting to play Virgin Americas video games on their seat back screens, but at least Alaska now supplies mobile device holders at every seat in place of it, so you can even position your own device to make it look like theres a seat back screen. Plus power outlets and Wi-Fi. Theres no point in offering no seat back screens if you dont have those three, in my opinion. The bring your own device model must be winning big-time right now considering how much germs seat back screens contract from flyers each day on airlines like Delta or JetBlue. Plus, dont those seat back screens tend to get quite beat up over the years with all those people pushing on them?
Alaska Airlines has a good, somewhat homey vibe, maybe because Im familiar with it as someone on the west coast. I havent flown JetBlue so I dont know how the two compare in terms of good value alternatives to the US big 3 while not being all no-frills low cost and with a pretty strong loyal fan base in a particular region. Also, does the Alaska personal device entertainment come with a moving map?

Alaska, the one airline to not say oH sO bEcAuSE oF tHE pAnDEmiC WE CaN oNlY ofFeR yOu oNe boTTlE oF wAtEr eVeN oN fIrSt/BusInESs cLasS.
All the pandemic should do to airlines is make then take care of hygiene more and enforce face covering/social distancing rules in their facilities (such as lounges and aircraft) and not compromise in service quality (speed of service is another story if they need to have less crew) because of the pandemic.

Recently flew Alaska for the first time from Seattle to San Diego. Besides not having the IFE its definitely on point with other US carriers. I usually fly Delta since thats the primary airline at my home airport so Ive become accustomed to IFE systems on domestic flights which isnt actually that common among other US carriers. Im excited to see where Alaska goes now that they have joined Oneworld.

Actually it is not any pax with a first class ticket to get lounge access, only those that are in paid first class ticket with first class fare classes can access, if you are upgraded base on your status, or paid for an upgrade you have no access, I just tried that recently to buy a cheap upgrade, was denied, luckily I have an admirals club membership card with me so that I can get in

Wish Alaska would start serving the Caribbean again. Cayman Airways is looking at Los Angeles and San Francisco as possible future routes, hope Alaska might be doing the same with Grand Cayman. Alaska has one of my favorite liveries and still retains that hometown airline feeling. Seem to be one of the only US airlines that consistently puts passengers first, along with jetBlue.

I flew first class on Alaska to Seattle last year around July, and I loved it, they took some of the restrictions off in the lounge so everything was opened, but overall the flight attendants were great, the only problem was that all of the drinks they asked for werent available, but Alaska gave us free lounge passes to make up for the inconvenience, that was a nice touch.

Notice that an airline with less focus on our political and sometimes unhealthy world provides a flight that leaves most happy with their flight yet doesnt cause issues. I hate to be an opposite voice when health is everyone elses intention, however this shows actual progress into normalization unlike some other actions by. groups I shalnt mention.

Alaska treats you as well as - or better than - any other domestic airline. Aaaand their frequent flyer program is by far the most generous and best around. You get credit for miles flown, rather than dollars spent. Even though I'm based on the east coast, they're my go-to airline for transcon service out of IAD or DCA.

Flying on a First Class A321 LAX-SEA then Max 9 SEA-LAX late April. Im currently doing a status matching challenge from my JetBlue Mosaic account. I know JetBlue Mint is more of a transcontinental business class, but Im excited to see what Alaska First Class has is store especially their lounge experience.

Great video report! And it looks like they did a great job refurbishing the LAX lounge.
FYI - lounge access is only available for paid or mileage award first class passengers - not for mileage upgrade or same day paid upgrades.

My mom used to and still flys a lot. If Alaska flys there, there was no other choice for her. If they didnt, then Delta was her second. Thats kind of how its we me now. 1st Alaska, 2nd delta, 3rd SW, 4th JetBlue.

You did not answer the question on your video. But I fly delta first class a bit and do not see much difference between that and Alaska. Plus delta has more connections and on seat screen. So delta for me.

With the greatest respect to Alaska & to you Sir, this was not a 'first-class' product by any reasonable definition. It is a decent premium economy or business-light, at best, ChinaVirus notwithstanding. Please.

Alaska does have great customer service. But my friends their first class doesnt even have a TV nor does it have a private section or bed. Fly United Im sure your video would be completely different.

Living in the NW, including 40 years in Seattle, Alaska has been my airline of choice since the late 80s. No airline has the perqs they had back in the day, but Alaska is still tops on many fronts.

I like that you dont need an international first class ticket to utilize the lounge. US airlines are stingy with that perk. Makes flying first a waste of money if you cant use the lounge.

Boarding should be back to front. It is so much quicker. They just should have jet bridge to the back door instead of middle. So much money lost by airline by birding the slow way

Gotta Say. Virgin America's first class was SOOOO much better. Alaska should have kept those Virgin planes with the Virgin First Class white leather recliners and large IFE.

One thing I have noticed is that US airlines seem to keep the seat-belt signs on a lot longer than most other countries' airlines, especially European airlines.

Reserved for nutty liberals. Normal people may not fly on this airline. They will first take your money and then tell you to get off when you are already boarded.
