I loved when I worked on Everest getting Logistics done for The Climbers. I was at base Camp when The 7. 8 Earthquake hit on April 25 2015 and was lucky to be alive after the Avalanches hit.
Saw a Boulder the size of a House Roll past me about 20 feet away at about 50 mph.
The Part of the Camp I was at survived many people Died that Sad Day.

I think it was a horrific decision to fly up with these amounts of clouds. I was wondering even before I saw the part where the clouds finally came in. There were way too many clouds earlier before. Not one single reasonable pilot from europe or the US would have done that.

In a helicopter, the pilot sits in the right seat. The look of relief was on the passenger's face, not the pilot's.
As a mountaineer, I can tell you that un-acclimatized exposure to high elevation (hypoxia) produces effects very similar to severe alcohol intoxication.

A little tidbit to share with you that probably nobody else cares about. The Englishman who the mountain was named for never visited it. He was named it in his honour, but the pronunciation of his name was Eave-rest.

No oxygen used on board? Crazy! The locals are somewhat acclimatised but visitors need oxygen at 17, 378 feet. Otherwise they might have staggered into the tail rotor! What's up with the chicken nuggets? Should be drinking electrolyte water instead.

I have NOT been to 18, 000 feet and that's SERIOUS altitude. I know from living in Colorado that altitude sickness can start at 7, 500 feet. Use that for perspective. I lived for about 5 years at about 8, 500 feet in the mountains in Colorado.

You should had had with you a spare tank of oxygen. I went up to 15k ASL point in the Himalayas and I know how it felt to be choked and dizzy plus the clouds suddenly fogged the way out of nowhere. By the way, did you do La Paz airport before?

Great video man! At times I thought it was a bit melodramatic but on the other hand, I've seen what can happen up there at base camp and at Lukla, so I can't say that you over dramatized it at all. Again, well done!

13: 22 the man is just seeing thru the viewfinder on his phone and not recording it. I feel sorry for him. He's going to be surprised or disappointed when he wants to find it to view it, if he wants to.

Based on the amount of fuel they pulled out of the storage Im gonna guess you guys were way over the useful load of that chopper its like 700 lbs in fuel cans alone assuming its 5 gal cans

People work with teams of physical trainers and nutritionist for years in order to get there bodies in peak condition to maybesurvive Everest. I could have guessed you were going to have issues.

yep, if you don't spend DAYS acclimatizing to the altitude, you are in severe danger if you stay longer than a couple of minutes. we took 13 days to hike from Lukla too Base Camp

I love this. I've lived in Colorado so have been to 12, 000 feet. It takes your breath away. I even worked about that high in Rocky Mtn National park in Colorado one summer.

Yeah. Helicopters and high altitude just dont mix. A better way to see Everest from the air is via Air China from Khatmandu to Gonngar. Just dont eat the on-board food.
