Flying On The World's Only Passenger Hovercraft Service! Patti: What a cool outing for the family for the day. Noel now that your in Houston you should take the family to an Air Boat Ride over in Orange, TX. It was one of the best times I have had. It takes you all through the swamp land. Up and down a bunch of different lanes. You will see a lot of different birds, Alligators, Boars, and all kinds of animals. The best part was one alley we went down was some shanty shacks that people live in. Poor people that are like out of the movie Deliverance. Very hillbilly ish. It was a trip. You must do when the weather gets better.

Take the car over and travel around the whole island its way better than the main land
And the roads are miles smoother than here on the mainland
We go over a few times a year with the car and love the Isle of Wight
The hovercraft is way fun tho for just a day trip but again take the car go from Portsmouth to fishbourne
Look to stay at lower Hyde in shanklin get a lodge with a hot tub you wont be disappointed

So you were on the Concorde of the sea lanes. I rode on one of the previous versions from Ryde to Portsmouth, just because i had never been on one. A shame you didn't ride on the old District Line D Stock now running on the islands main line railway service. At around only 40 years old they are half the age of the 1938 tube stock they replaced.

Well Noel, not quite the only passenger hovercraft. Look up Broome Hovercraft in Australia and you can take a tour to see dinosaur footprints or WWII aircraft wrecks from when the Japanese attacked flying boats full of escapees from Indonesia, killing many of them.

Well Noel, theres a new HC service being introduced Spring of 23. Toronto to St. Catherines (Niagara region) normally a 2 hr drive (can be 4-5 during holidays) The HC will take aprox 30-45 mins. $35-50 ONE WAY. Heres hoping everything goes.

Hello, I went on a hovercraft in the late 80's from Hong Kong to Macau. The journey took 12 hours and the entire time there were kung fu films on that looked real. I think they have now built a bridge between those places which is amazing.

My I ask when this was filmed? I am always in shock how they are still going I can imagine the maintenance costs on these must be higher than a conventional ship, however it looks super busy, but maybe it was high season?

Went across to France on one.
Everyone throwing up, and not allowed to move away.
I'd never take a long trip on one again.
The duty free restrictions destroyed their profit margins, which led to it being stopped.

Great machines and great video. It's a pity Noel, that you never got to ride the car-carrying giant SRN 6 Hovercraft from Dover or Ramsgate, to France. That took just half an hour. (Check out the SRN6 videos)

I can remember riding the Hovercraft many years ago when there was a service to Calais from Dover, and correct me if I'm wrong, it traveled at 60mph.
This vlog takes me back, thanks once again for great content

Sadly, as you are an aviation enthusiast, there was no mention of BN!
One of the most successful aircraft manufacturers in the United Kingdom based in the IoW and now just across the Solent.

Finally got to do that flight 4 yrs ago, it was on my bucket list since I 1st saw one as a kid. Loved it. Sad that it never took off as its a brilliant, fast, efficient way to travel

So cool! Would love to visit the Isle of Wight and take a ride on one of these if I ever go to Britain, thanks for sharing your trip with us Noel! I love your videos!

I love how there's a beach with people swimming right next to it. Could never have that here in America, some drunken hick would see how long he could hold on for lol.

Hello Noel, Good to see you on the hovercraft, A bit different from Q suits and VS upper class. This used to be my daily commute to work for almost 8 year!

I've lived in Portsmouth my hole life, I'm 20 now and I've never been on the Hovercraft so watching this video I finally get to see what it's like inside

I loved the hovercraft, not keen on boats, so the speed was good for me. Also was surprised how it felt like a plane onboard. Thanks guys

I took the Hovercraft from England to France. I guess that service is no longer? Anyway, theres no seasickness like Hovercraft seasickness

Rewind to Dec/Jan 1978 when our family crossed from Folkestone to Calais in a hovercraft on which our rental car was also transported.
