Glad to see you finally doing a Southwest Airlines flight! That's the ONLY airline I'll ever take especially after having 2 American Airlines flights (departure and return) barely landing before their engines quit and we had to be pulled to the gate. The departure flight literally just barely got on the ground in the city I was traveling to before the engines quit. Then I took a Delta flight and was discriminated against because I'm wheelchair bound and in my 50's yet they forced me to pay for a ticket to have one of their employees travel with me which I have never and would never need. Trust me if we have to make an emergency landing I'll be the absolute first person to go down that shoot with absolutely no help from anyone! Just because someone is disabled doesn't mean we're unable to help ourselves or unable to be completely independent. I used to work for Southwest as a reservation agent so I have always loved them. Plus they understand how to make those of us with disabilities not feel like we're unable to do anything ourselves. Welcome to KCI airport! I was born in Missouri and grew up in Kansas. I'm actually glad that you got off the plane in KC so I could get a little glimpse of the new terminal since I'll be flying back home to KC to visit family in July. It definitely looks a lot better than the old terminal that is for sure!

Hi Noel, TBH, I never had a flight with several stop overs before, the only long one with one stop over I had and with one Aircraft back in 2014 was an Emirates flight from SYD-DXB via BKK, I do not remember the flight number but I do remember the aircraft Reg which was A6-ECL, a B777-300ER, I do know Emirates also has a new one coming up, if they have not started but was advertised and that one is DXB-BOG Colombia via MIA and there may be others too, however I will not say people would be crazy to do a flight like this, maybe a local typical American might not do this flight, however if you are a tourist and you want to do a bit of sight seeing however you might only be planning to stay perhaps in let's say Dallas then the next might be Houston and you may not have time or plans to visit other places in America, but you wouldn't mind a glimpse of those places then this Southwest flight would logically make more sense in my opinion.

How many Mongolian togrogs does a beer cost on Southwest
I like Southwest - the FA's are the most polite in the USA and their fare structure is simple and fair. The only beef I have with them is their boarding process. They make it too easy for people to game the system by demanding priority boarding they don't need, resulting in people paying a premium for business select or early bird not getting the priority boarding and seat choice they paid for. And early bird is the biggest scam in the industry. Open seating is great, but it should be modified. The first 10 rows should be reserved for business select, group A, unaccompanied minors and people who LEGITIMATELY need priority boarding. 11-20 should be reserved for Group B, and 21 and higher for Group C. If you're in Group A and want to sit in the back it would be allowed, but Group C wouldn't be allowed to sit anywhere ahead of row 21.

I once let one of the booking sites lay out their cheapest route to fly from northern California to Dublin, Ireland with no restrictions on the number of connections. So I wound up flying Santa Rosa-Seattle-Denver-Minneapolis-Chicago, self transfer Midway to O'hare, Chicago-Cleveland-Atlanta-Istanbul-CDG, self transfer to Orly, then finally Dublin. Nine flights total, six before even getting out of US, and twice changing airports. Surprisingly cheap, $450usd at at time when most of the more direct routes were going about $800-$900.

On the 7am Whataburger: When I lived in Fort Worth they were pretty often my breakfast. Pretty nice Biscuits and Gravy and passable coffee. Heck even after I left that particular Whataburger was a deciding factor on flight choice on the few flights I took back to Texas (they've since opened one at DFW but I've only been back to Texas once since then)
Of course, that was years ago before they got sold so I'm not sure about their breakfast offerings nowadays, but they definitely had a good breakfast while I was there.

I haven't done anything crazy like hop around the country on one plane, but one time, I did fly on United from New Orleans to Newark, so I could connect to a 777-300 flight on to San Francisco. I had never flown a 777 and that was an opportunity to do so. I also did an around the world business class journey using SkyTeam miles. I went from New Orleans, to Los Angeles, to Seattle, to London, to Rome, to Seoul, to New York, to New Orleans. Got my one and only A380 experience on Korean A380 between ICN and JFK.

In the past few years I've take a few SWA flights that eventually got me to my destination. The first was Grand Rapids - Chicago - Dallas - Albuquerque, and then a few months later it was Grand Rapids - Chicago - Colorado Springs - Las Vegas (overnight) then on to Long Beach to visit family. I'd like to fly them more often, but I have a couple of airports closer to home so now it's Delta, United or occasionally American. Good video - glad you shared your experience.

You keep saying Kansas about Kansas City, but you seemingly know that it's in Missouri because you said KCMO. The airport is also in Missouri. The city is always Kansas City, never just Kansas, which always means the state.
A similar thing happens with Oklahoma City. If you just say Oklahoma, people think the entire state. The one time this is not true is New York, because its official name is the City of New York.

I once had to fly from DFW to SGF (Springfield, MO. It’s about a 50 minute flight. I decided to do it with stops in Louisville and Chicago. It ended up being a really fun day!
Also, as someone who is originally from Missouri I feel obligated to point out that the Kansas City airport is actually in Missouri! As is the actual city of Kansas City. Don’t ask me how or why all that worked out like it did!

A few months ago, my wife and I paid for early boarding and got seats 1A and 2A. Ten people in wheelchairs boarded first, then 25 people needing additional assistance. We ended up boarding 35th and had to sit in the middle of the plane. When we arrived at Houston Hobby, all but three people got up and left the plane unassisted. We haven't flown with them since. What a joke of an airline.

Position, A5, huh You must’ve snagged the Business Class $50 or $100 fee. I gave up on Southwest used to fly them routinely at Baltimore to Fort Myers, gave up due to their messed up boarding system. I always wound up in the B group. I love the professional narrative from the flight attendant in Long Beach It’s gonna fly like he stole it welcome to America America & Happy flying

I flew to Tampa from Indianapolis on Southwest in February and according to the screen at baggage claim, the flight number had started in Fort Myers and made several stops on the east coast and midwest before ending the night in Tampa. I laughed because it seemed like a pretty inefficient way of traveling about 100 miles. Now I know there’s someone out there who would actually do it

Great vlog as always! ALL US carriers have this strange routing system. I have tried to get a bit wiser, but no luck. My longest was this month back in 1988. A BU flight from LYR-FBU via TOS-BOO-TRD-BGO-SVG-KRS on LN-SUZ, a 737-205. Dep. LYR 0800. Arr. FBU 1655. Keep up the good work. Be safe! WN is not my cup of tea. They were the idol of BU (1946-2005) I know that for sure!

Aren't these kind of hop-on-hop-off flight schedules basically because of the absence of bullet trains in the US
If done well, bullet trains could be cheaper and faster. But the US is a very diverse country, geologically speaking, and so the upfront cost of building the tracks would be astronomical. So maybe flights would be cheaper anyway. Who knows.

Southwest's model is really good for passengers when things go right, but when the FAA had that system crash it hurt SWA more than most because their planes were scattered far and wide. I wish more airlines used this old bus route model, but hub-and-stoke sadly makes a lot more sense from an airline point of view.

fun fact. the long beach cruise terminal is brand new for the Carnival Ferenze. it was originally supposed to be a Costa cruise line ship but Carnival brought it over to their own fleet instead which is why you see the funnel is the Costa funnel and not the iconic Carnival Wale Tail funnel.

My husband and I were just having a conversation about southwest’s longest direct flight last night looks like it’s PHX to HNL. something like 6 or 61/2 hrs. I have done OAK to HNL in the past on another carrier on a 737 when my kids were little ( my daughters first flight) fun times.

I never chose Southwest Airlines as my carrier. I just can’t get past the free-for-all unassigned seat grab. Watching your video convinced me that Southwest is not a party in the sky. Your flights were calm. Good for you for doing this video. I hope for you and family the best. Cr-
